Getting In

If you are not based in Calgary and just coming in for the wedding, we recommend flying to the Canadian Rockies International Airport (YXC) in Cranbrook and then taking a shuttle or driving to Fernie (1 hour). Flying in on Friday, August 23rd and out on the afternoon of Sunday, August 25th would work well.

Flying into the Calgary International Airport (YYC) is also a popular option, if you have a bit more time to explore the area (Banff, Lake Louise, etc) and then take in the beautiful 3 hour drive to Fernie. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you need advice on travel in the area or to/from Fernie.

Car

Getting to Fernie

The drive from Calgary International Airport to our venue in Fernie is around 3 hours, and it's a beautiful drive!
Directions (YYC --> Fernie): goo.gl/maps/s286fGt7ZaD2

If you're flying into Cranbrook, it's around a 1 hour drive to Fernie. Car rentals and Shuttles are available from the airport. The "Fernie Alpine Resort" or "The Griz" shuttle stops are close to our venue.
Directions (YXC --> Fernie): goo.gl/maps/3jga896Wamn

Either way, if you're coming in from out of town, we would recommend renting a car from the airport, or getting in touch with us with your flight details and we'll try to coordinate a convoy or bus.

Story

Some may say we are rushing into things - but when you know, you know...

Although we knew of each other before (Sam even crashed one of his house parties back in '04), we officially met at a mutual friends birthday party - thanks Gwyn! Following that fateful night at the Bugaboo Lounge (RIP) we started our adventure together.... or we would have if Dan hadn't decided to move back to Europe shortly after our first few dates. But lucky for Sam the ski gods decided that his knees were no longer fit to serve and he returned to Canada and revived the burgeoning relationship.

From Calgary to Kelowna to London, Ontario (aka. fake London) and back again to Calgary, accumulating a few degrees and a lot of student debt along the way, we managed to still like each other even after multiple years of long distance. I think we knew many years ago that this thing was going to stick, but Dan had to wait patiently for Sam to get it together.... let's just say that the "M" word sent her into a spiral.

Dan eventually came up with a plan to trap Sam on an island in the Maldives and pop the question, a risky plan given she's a pretty good swimmer, but luckily for him she said yes!
