Story

Liz and Nick met while singing at the Aspen Music Festival in 2015. They were the two leading roles in a contemporary opera called The Cows of Apollo or the Invention of Music. Liz and Nick remained friends and in 2016, Nick moved to NYC, where they were finally back in the same city. One fateful day in late 2017, their voice teacher strategically mentioned to Nick during his lesson that Liz was now single. That was all it took for Nick to ask Liz out for a drink to "catch up". Of course, Liz had no idea this was any different from any of the other times they had hung out as friends. She soon found out because a couple of dates (that Liz had no idea were dates) later, after a night at the opera, a rejected Venmo repayment for the tickets, and a walk to Liz's apartment in a snowstorm on the Upper West Side, Nick asked to kiss her. The rest is history.

Tidbits

What's your favorite activity together?

We love hiking! As Nick always says, "Liz loves a view."

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

Liz here... Definitely the trip to Aspen when we got engaged! I had absolutely NO idea what I was in for and it was absolutely perfect!

What's the best meal you have eaten together?

Oh my gosh... we have to choose just one?! We just got back from Tuscany (see photos!) where we drank some of the best wine and ate some of the best food of our lives, so that experience immediately comes to mind!

We are regulars at

In Illinois - Nani's House
In England - Nan's House
In NYC - John's of Bleecker Street

Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q & A first!

When is the RSVP deadline?

Kindly RSVP by August 10th, 2024 so we have an accurate head count ❤️.

Can I bring a date?

Please check your invite for your +1!

Are kids welcome?

Due to the small size of our venue, we sadly have to limit the little ones at our wedding ceremony and reception to immediate family and the children of the bridal party. We would love to see them on Sunday for brunch, though!

We acknowledge that it may be hard for some parents to get childcare for the night. We totally understand and look forward to celebrating with you and your family at another time ❤️.

What will the weather be like?

Fall in New York. It is one of the most beautiful things in the world, but also kind of unpredictable. Nights can be chilly, days can be warm, there's sun, there's rain, there's foliage. Bring options!

Where should I park?

We recommend uber/lyft/taxiing over driving for two reasons:
1. Parking in NYC is limited at best
2. So you can enjoy some amazing cocktails and Italian wine!

Are the ceremony and reception locations wheelchair accessible?

Yes! Our venue is completely ADA compliant.

What should I wear?

Black-Tie Optional. We ask that men wear a tuxedo or a dark suit and tie and women wear an evening gown or midi cocktail dress. Think old New York glamour!

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Our wedding ceremony will be indoors, but our venue has a beautiful garden in the back of the reception area and rooftop space, both exclusively available to us, so we can enjoy the fall leaves and the NYC skyline!

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

Ones you can dance in! Two singers getting married?? You KNOW we had to get a band.

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Please do! We would just prefer to keep the phones to a minimum during the ceremony. We have a fab photographer (@lovelyandtalented - check her out, she's amazing) and she's got us all covered, we promise.

Whom should I call with questions?

Please contact our lovely Maid of Honor, Julie, with any questions: (917) 609-5948.

What time should I arrive?

We are asking our guests to arrive at 4:30pm.

I am coming from out of town. Where should I stay?

We have coordinated discounted room blocks at two hotels within a 30 minute walk or a 10 minute drive from Shell's Loft. Check out our "Travel" section above for more information!

Will there be dancing?

You bet!

What time will the reception end?

We'll be winding down at Shell's Loft around 11pm, but don't let that stop you from keeping the party going into the wee hours elsewhere!

How can I help the couple have the best time during their wedding day?

By enjoying yourself!!
