It all began the summer of 2017. Chris was in the Okanagan visiting his parents. Amanda was living in Penticton looking for a man on the popular dating app, Plenty of Fish. Chris messaged Amanda and she remembers saying “Grande Prairie eh? That’s a little far away”. Chris convinced Amanda to go for a date after telling her he was planning to move back to the Okanagan. They met at Tim Hortons (How very Canadian of them) on September 6 2017. Chris and Amanda were wearing the same identical shoes.. This should have been the first red flag for Chris to notice. Chris suggested they drive to Skaha lake and go for a walk. They got in his old beat up GMC truck and she wondered if they’d even be able to make it to the beach let alone get him back to Grande Prairie. This should have been a red flag number one for Amanda. They sat and enjoyed each other’s company. Amanda poured her heart out and told Chris how she eventually wanted a couple blue eyed blonde haired children (maybe that’s her German heritage speaking). Keep in mind this was their first date so this should have been red flag number two for Chris. It didn’t scare him off, in fact he then said they should go rent a boat on the Lake. Chris went to pay for the boat and his Visa was declined… this should have been another red flag. But Amanda cheerfully offered to pay the tab instead. After all she was living in her parents basement, so she could afford it. Thankfully this was the case because if you ask both Chris and Amanda when it was they knew they were right for each other it was on that boat ride.. Despite barely knowing each other, being polar opposites and a couple of funny red flags that would have made anyone else run in the other direction... Chris and Amanda knew they had something special and not even the inconvenience of distance would keep them apart. Today they have a couple of beautiful blue eyed blonde haired babies. They still plan on moving to the Okanagan. Amanda still rocks the same shoes and thankfully Chris has never turned up his nose to her “comfort over caring” style. He still has the beat up truck, but their lives are so much richer since finding each other.
