Our Proposal Story
Our proposal story told by Veronica….
I drove up to Austin for the weekend to visit my friend Katie. Meanwhile, Scott was in “Boston” for work.
Katie and I made plans to go to a nice dinner on Saturday night with some girlfriends. On our way to dinner some of our friends were meeting us at St. Edward’s University, which is centrally located and my alma mater.
Katie suggested we take some photos in front of the Austin skyline and infamous red doors at the main building. I thought it was a great idea!
As we walked from the parking lot and I turned the corner to main building, we noticed a couch on the lawn in front of the building. I jokingly said to Katie, “Hey we should take a photo on that couch over there.” Then it hit me! A complete state of shock and confusion. Suddenly, a wave of recognition came over me, and I stopped to say, “THAT COUCH!”
My grandmother’s loveseat was sitting on the lawn of St. Edward’s. This was the same sofa my Dad proposed to my Mom on 30 plus years ago…
Soon I realized Katie was part of the entire plan/set up, so I started walking towards the loveseat while a photographer snapped photos nearby. There was a beautiful bouquet of my favorite flowers with a sweet note from Scott.
After I read the note, Scott appeared with a navy blue, velvet ring box. He got down on one knee, visibly more nervous than me and asked me to be his wife.
I said, “YES!”
Inside the ring box was my dream ring, a 1920s, art deco, asscher cut diamond engagement ring.
We ended the evening celebrating with dinner, drinks and cake! June 30, 2018 was the perfect day to start our lives together.
