Story

Vanessa: We met each other through an app (believe it or not!) set up by our closest friends. Nasser sent the first message on December 31st of 2017, and I replied January 2nd of 2018 (He always says I made him wait a year)! We set a date for our first date, and the rest was history. We believe that God led us to each other, and it was love at first date! No pretense, no awkwardness, just magic. You can say, I was 100% real from day 1 and fell asleep at the movies after my second glass of wine (I'm a lightweight and notorious for sleeping at the movies). On the second date, I accidentally spilled miso soup all over him (I was quite mortified), and he graciously mopped up the mess with napkins and made light of the situation. Not to mention, I kept bringing my cousin or my bestfriend to subsequent dates and apparently made him think I was friend-zoning him (In reality, I just could not wait to introduce him to people closest to me)! All of that led to where we are now. Husband and wife... about to have a new addition to our little family.
Nasser: I made the first move and messaged her, but it took her the very next year to reply. Granted, I only messaged her the end of December and she messaged me in January, but it's still a year. We met up at the Yard House at Memorial City. I got there 15 minutes early, and of course, she was 15 minutes late! I got through drinking one glass of wine before she even got there. It was the start of something special.

Tidbits

How did you first meet?

See Our Story!

Who made the first move? How?

Nasser: Me. She made me wait a year.

What was your most memorable date?

Vanessa: I want to say the night I spilled miso soup on him... and the sushi was really good lol

Nasser: We watched Jumanji and ate at House of Pies after. And Kasra's when I asked her to be my girlfriend.

What's your favorite activity together?

Vanessa: Gym! We're workout buddies and take turns training each other (This was last year's response). Nowadays, I just sit on the yoga ball and bounce around while he works out... haha kidding. Now that I'm pregnant, we share random food cravings (He has sympathy cravings lol). I have also made him watch Kdramas with me, and he is supposed to enjoy it.

Nasser: Trying out new restaurants where she ends up liking and eating my food and makes me finish hers.

What's the best meal you have eaten together?

Vanessa: Nothing better than sharing a home-cooked meal in our jammies! But when we went to NYC, we had some pretty dope food.

Nasser: Oooh weeee ya'll got time?! LOL phat eatery, hokkaido, mikoto, ra sushi, popeyes, chick fil-a, maggianos! And my wife's home-cooked steak...BOY MMm-mm

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

Nasser: Every trip is memorable in its own way, from our first weekend getaway to Galveston to traveling to the Philippines to meet each other's families.

Vanessa: We went to the Philippines to visit my mom's grave on her birthday a year after she passed. That was also when we both met each other's families and ate the freshest seafood ever.

How did you propose?

Nasser: Y'all got some Kleenex? Basically I planned it with her sister Crystal, without Vanessa knowing. Told her that Travis was looking for a suit, but really we were shopping for a ring. Crystal and I came up with the plan to take her to the park where she used to take Mama Aida. There, at sunset, I popped the question in front of everyone we love.
