Story
Luke was living in Madison, WI and Abby was living in Dubuque, IA. They met on a dating app called Hinge. Abby first "liked" Luke's picture and answer to the question about what an average Sunday looked like, which was "church, laundry, & football." They had both limited themselves to a radius of two hours and were both at the far end of their range, when they agreed to meet halfway for their first date at Bob's Bitchin' BBQ in Dodgeville, WI. He ordered "the pile of meat" (burnt ends) and she ordered "the grilled cheese soup." From that very first date, Abby could tell that there was something different about Luke. Shortly after getting home, she received a text from him saying that he had a really nice time and would like to see her again. The rest is history.

What's your favorite activity together?
Playing with the kids, hiking, traveling, going to concerts, wineries, and breweries to check out the local food and drinks wherever we are.
Where are you going for your honeymoon?
We haven't decided yet, but we might save up and do something for our 1-year anniversary.
What's the best meal you have eaten together?
Dinner at The Blind Horse Winery in Kohler, WI
What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?
Where to start? Door County, Sheboygan, Tampa, Las Vegas, Utah, Arizona, and we are just getting started!

If flying, we recommend flying into Chicago, IL, Cedar Rapids, IA, or Madison, WI
Grand Harbor Resort and Waterpark
Grand Harbor is within walking distance from the reception venue, is located right along the Mississippi River, and includes breakfast and water park access. You can book a general reservation online, as the wedding block has already filled up.
Best Western Plus Dubuque Hotel & Conference Center
This is one of the locations where we have a room block. They will release any unused rooms 30 days prior to the event date, so be sure to book before 6/15/23. Please indicate "Morales/Bacher" wedding when you book. They have a fun pool area and are not too far from Starbucks and Target. This is a short drive from the reception venue.
Holiday Inn Dubuque/Galena
The Holiday Inn Dubuque/Galena does not offer wedding blocks unless the event is being held there. However, they do suggest to book at least a couple months in advance, as they said that all of Dubuque fills up quite quickly in the summer months.

We have kids, so there will be kids at the festivities. Feel free to use our wedding as an excuse for a date night, too! Please reach out if you have questions.
What will the weather be like?
Welcome to Dubuque, IA! The weather here in July can range from a low of 65 at night to an average of 85 during the day in July. Feel free to bring a jacket for the evening as our reception venue is both indoor and outdoor and along the Mississippi River, which offers a nice breeze.
Where should I park?
There is plenty of free parking at both the church and winery.
Are the ceremony and reception locations wheelchair accessible?
Yes
What should I wear?

Will food be served?
We will be serving a variety of heavy appetizers and late night pizza.
Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?
Our wedding ceremony is indoors, but our reception will be both indoor and outdoor (with a tent providing shade for the outdoor space).
Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?
Yes! We would love for you to take photos and share them on our app, Joy.
However, please refrain from taking photos during the ceremony, as we want to preserve the reverence of the mass. We will leave the ceremony pictures to the photographers, to allow for minimal distractions.
