Our Story

Our story began with suits, shirts, sportcoats, things like that. We both grew up in different cities in the sunny state of Florida, went to different colleges **Go Noles and Go Knights** at completely different times, yet somehow made our way to Washington D.C. and ended up working for the same company (and by working together, I do mean that Alex was one of MB's sales trainers).

While getting to know each other, we quickly found ourselves spending most of our time together in and out of the office, from Friday happy hours, to our office kickball team games, to Bikram yoga (definitely not the most flattering activity). Two apartments, one puppy, and five years later, our lives changed forever when Alex proposed to Maribeth on June 17th, 2016.

We are so incredibly excited for our loved ones to join us as we officially become Mr. and Mrs. de Lara!

Q&A with Alex and MB

Who made the first move? How?

Technically it was Alex. He indirectly invited MB to a Harry Potter movie through a co-worker. In other words, he asked a friend to ask MB to go to the movies. She even bought her own ticket- so romantic :)

What was your most memorable date?

There are too many to count! From weekend getaways in Annapolis, MD, to Broadway shows in the city, and dinners overlooking the sunset in Hawaii, I'd have to say nothing tops the night Alex popped the question in front of the Washington Monument.

What's your favorite activity together?

We love traveling to new places whenever we can and taking walks around D.C. with our dog, Holden.

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

Our most memorable trip was traveling to Alex's hometown of Buenos Aires and also visiting wine country in Mendoza.

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

We are planning a trip to Europe- the French Riviera, Canary Islands, and Portugal.

What's the best meal you have eaten together?

Oh, that's a tough one (Maribeth is a foodie)! It would have to be at Azafran Restaurant in Mendoza, Argentina. The sommelier took us to the restaurant's wine cellar, where he picked out a bottle of wine for us to enjoy at dinner. If we could pick one meal to eat for the rest of our lives, that would be it!

What nicknames do you have for each other?

Cuddle-Muffin and Baby Big Cheeks- but, really.
