Travel & Things to Do
Flying in to Puerto Vallarta (PVR)
Sayulita is a small, laid-back, surfer town located in Riviera Nayarit on the west coast of Mexico.
Puerto Vallarta is the closest major city and airport. There are both direct and connecting flights into Puerto Vallarta (PVR) from most of the major cities in the U.S.
We recommend that our wedding party arrive by Wednesday, February 19th, and all guests arrive by Thursday, February 20th (or sooner, if you'd like).
Transportation to and from Sayulita to Puerto Vallarta
Getting to Sayulita from the airport is about a 45-60 minute drive depending on traffic and time of day.
There are a few options to get from PVR to Sayulita:
Uber: This is the easiest and most affordable option. Exit the airport and go left, cross the pedestrian bridge to the other side of the street and call the Uber from there (typically they are less than 5 minutes away). Approx. $30-$60 USD.
Taxi: Right outside of the airport (typically there is a long taxi line). Approx. $60-$100 USD.
Private Transportation: Pre-organize transportation (recommended for larger groups). Price varies per company and number of people. is a trusted website linked below with options for organizing transportation ahead of time.
We do NOT recommend renting a car, as parking is very limited, and the town of Sayulita is easily accessible by walking. Golf carts are available to rent once in town which are more convenient, and more fun, than renting a car. Approx. $50 USD per day.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to Tommy or Alexis with any questions. We've done pretty much all modes of travel from the airport and can help you make the right choice for you.
Where to stay
February is known for its perfect weather, making it a desirable month to visit. Please book your accommodations early so you get the best options.
Sayulita is a very small town - it takes about 15 minutes to walk from one side to the other so getting around is quite easy. We recommend staying in the North or South End as downtown can get noisy at night. Although its very walkable, renting a golf cart is a popular option to get around the town.
Rentals are the best options for groups of all sizes. is a trusted site we've booked rentals through many times. It has many of the same homes as Airbnb without the fees.
Sayulita also has many boutique hotels that we've listed below.
Hotel Playa Escondida
Beautiful hotel, closest to the venue and golf cart to town. This is where they film Bachelor in Paradise lol!
Amor Boutique Hotel & Villa Amor
Beautiful hotel with rooms and villas. 2nd closest of the hotels to the venue and easy walk to town.
La Joya Sayulita
Beautiful hotel close to the venue. Private, quiet.
Hotel Ysuri Sayulita
Really nice hotel right next to the beach and short walk to lots of restaurant options and the main town area.
La Puesta Sayulita
Great luxury option in Sayulita that’s brand new. It’s on the North end of town so it’s a little quieter there as well.
Conrad Punta Mita
If you are looking for 5-star luxury accommodations, then we recommend staying in Punta Mita. The Conrad Punta de Mita (30 minutes from the venue in Sayulita) is one of our favorites. Please note, if you stay in Punta Mita, you will be responsible for your transportation to the wedding.
Safety & Health
We want everyone to have the best time possible - see below for safety and health tips while traveling.
Safety: Please take reasonable precautions, such as, leaving unnecessary valuables at home, using your rental/hotel's safe, and locking doors when you leave. Do not leave your valuables unattended at the public beach.
Health: Stay hydrated using bottled or purified water (do not drink tap). Research food places before eating at them and do not eat food from the beach vendors. Make it a habit to wash your hands with soap and water. Wash hands each time you use the bathroom, before eating and preparing food, and immediately upon returning after being out and about. As an extra precaution, we recommend taking probiotics leading up to and during the trip.
