Flying here
We recommend flying into MALAGA Costa del Sol Airport or into GIBRALTAR Airport (from UK Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester only).
Malaga airport is busy, so we recommend paying extra for Fast Track Security, it's worth it on the way home. For those travelling with British passports, these do now need to be stamped in and out, so build in a little extra time on the way home to allow for this.

Things to do during your stay
Driving to Sotogrande
Sotogrande is approximately 1 hour's drive from Malaga.
There are several car rental options (excellent experience with: , Espacar, Enterprise), and options via (pre-booked) taxi´s are relatively inexpensive from €90 (from Malaga). We recommend taking the toll road (AP-7) to avoid traffic jams. It costs approximately €15 and you can touch the reader with your credit card.
If you fly in to Gibraltar, driving to Sotogrande takes about 25 minutes.
Car rental option of choice, amongst others is Espacar. To pick up your rental car from Espacar, it is a 10 minute walk across the road from the airport. They are based in an underground carpark at the end of a row of shops/restaurants. You would need to walk across the border in to Spain first.
Taxi's here are available from the taxi rank in Spain or can be pre-booked online. Estimated cost around €55 to Sotogrande.
The car rental people in both places also speak English.
Story
The first time I came across Karel, was when I was talking to his boss in a bar in a hotel in Versailles. Without speaking, he slid across a glass of champagne. Well he had my attention! We started talking and realised we really got on. I learnt he was based in NL, we then went on our separate ways and I never thought I would come across him again. A few months later, he called to ask something about work. A chance conversation led to a work placement for his son, Niels, in London. I later learnt that Karel was also moving to London to start a new life and a new job.
After a "thank you for my work placement" dinner with Karel and Niels, he invited me out again and that's how it all began....
