Registry
We ask that you please do not bring gifts or money to our wedding. All that we request is for you to be there and celebrate with us; your presence is enough of a present to us! Seriously.
In lieu of gifting us anything, consider making a donation to one of the following charities/organizations that we have picked out specifically. Click the Browse Our Registry button and check them out below!
Q: How does this work?
A: If you'd like to make a donation, please select the desired charity/organization, enter your information, and click "Reserve and Give." This will take you to a new screen where you will be directed to either click "Send money on pp" or "Go to Donation Site." This will redirect you straight to the charity's website--there is no middle man. The information you provide on Joy's website is to create a record for us so we will know to thank you for any generous donation that you make. :)
Get to Know Us
How did you first meet?
We met at the Auld Shebeen, which is an Irish Pub in Northern Virginia. We were both there for a church event geared toward young adults called Theology on Tap. Marty always says we met at a bar, and Amy always says it was a church event. Somehow, neither of us are lying.
Who made the first move? How?
Amy actually made the first move. I (Amy) originally asked to exchange numbers when we first met, just to have the ability to remain in contact as friends/acquaintances. A few months later he asked me to go to a party with him as a friend. We actually got asked by a girl at this party how long we had been dating. When we laughed and said we were just friends, she said "oh...awwwkkkward." A few weeks later I asked Marty to go out for drinks and that's when my feelings were made clear.
How did he propose?
Marty proposed at the Lincoln Memorial on (technically) September 12, 2021 around 1:00 am. We had spent the whole day leading up to that moment together. We went to go see the new movie, Shang-Chi and following that he came over to my place and we cooked brunch together. He then threw me for a loop by taking me to a jewelry store to figure out my ring size and look at a few engagement ring styles together. I figured why would he try to get my opinions on these things if he already had a ring?? (Well he had a surprise in store)! We already had plans to go into the city because we had tickets to see Jim Gaffigan live in D.C.. We ate dinner at this unique restaurant in D.C. called Crepeaway. This is also the restaurant that we went to on our first official date back in December of 2017. Then finally, after the show, we went to take a visit to the Lincoln Memorial because the monuments/memorials are beautiful at night and less populated. We walked around for a bit and found a private spot on the side to sit and chat for a bit. He proposed there with his grandmother's ring. I wasn't surprised he asked; but I was surprised he asked that day! And what a pleasant surprise it was. :)
What's your favorite activity together?
Either racquet sports, board games, or making art out of Rubik's cubes.
A life goal of ours
Amy's goal is to have many children and Marty's is to retire early. Wish us luck. :D
The dorkiest thing about us is
We talk nerdy to each other. But seriously, we do share a love of math.
We are regulars at
Sunday Mass.
Q & A
For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q & A first!
When is the RSVP deadline?
Kindly RSVP by Saturday, June 25, 2022.
What will the weather be like?
Hopefully a beautiful day! But be prepared for it to be hot. Daily high temperatures in Poland, OH in July are around 82°F, rarely falling below 74°F or exceeding 91°F.
What should I wear?
Semi-Formal or Cocktail attire is requested.
Are kids welcome?
Yes, we are happy to welcome kids to both the ceremony and reception. Please, however, be sure to include them when you RSVP so that we can plan for their attendance.
Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?
The wedding and reception will both be indoors. However, the reception venue does have a back patio where you can gather during cocktail hour.
Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?
No. We are having an unplugged ceremony, so we request that you refrain from taking photos/videos during the ceremony. We'd like you to be present during this special occasion, and remain reverent during the celebration of the Mass.
We've hired a professional to take care of the pictures, so you can rest assured the moment will be beautifully captured.
You may take pictures at the reception.
How will food and drinks be served?
Food will be served buffet style, and we are pleased to be offering an open bar!
Will there be dancing?
Of course! See you on the dance floor!
Where should I park?
The church and venue both have plenty of space in their parking lots.
What should/could I do between the ceremony and the reception?
What you do with your time in between the ceremony and cocktail hour/reception is up to you, but we can provide a few suggestions.
This area is known for its Handel's Ice Cream, so if you're looking for a mid-day dessert on a hot day, look no further as there is a Handel's located a half mile from the church.
If you're a lover of history and/or architecture you can check out the Poland Library. It's a beautifully crafted building with a rich history.
Or, why not celebrate the anniversary of Arby's in it's own hometown (Yes, the very first Arby's was opened on JULY 23, 1964 in Boardman, Ohio). If you want to go to the original location, it's only about a 10 minute drive into Boardman. It's at 29 Boardman-Canfield Road, and the original building is still standing right across the street at 90 Boardman-Canfield Road! So maybe enjoy some delicious curly fries, and celebrate 58 years of Arby's in its own hometown!
Take a walk around Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park.

Who took your beautiful pictures?
That depends on the picture!
The pictures at the Lincoln Memorial were taken in October by our good friend, Ryan Thompson. He was willing to wake up super early to get these shots at the place we got engaged!
The pictures in Steubenville (in the purple sweater/blue patterned dress/ring closeups) were taken by our wedding photographer, Caitlin Renn. Our engagement session was our first time meeting her and we are beyond excited to have her capture our special day as well!
The picture where I am kissing Marty on the cheek was candidly taken by another good friend of ours, Enoch Jayasundara.
We're so lucky to know so many talented people!
The rest were taken by either Marty or me.
