Andrew tracked down Karen through Bebo (similar to Facebook). Nowadays some would call this stalking!!!

One of the most memorable meals we had was in Aviemore. Andrew had lasagne for a starter (yep this is an unusual starter, usually a main meal!). Then steak and chips for main, finished off with chocolate fudge cake and ice cream. It may not sound like much but the portions were ridiculously large. The starter would have been more than most people could have managed for a whole meal. Following this up with, what can only be described as half a cow, was probably a bad plan. At this point most people would have accepted defeat and stopped eating, but not Andrew, he's a trooper and kept going, through a huge slice of cake and ice cream.

We have had a the pleasure of visiting some lovely places in the UK including the Cairngorms (Highlands), Whitby (North Yorkshire Coast), Penrith (Lake District), Butterstone (nr Dunkeld, Perthshire) and Salen (Ardnamurchan, Scotland).
And overseas we have visited some truly stunning places including Chania (Crete), Amalfi (Italy), Nessebar (Bulgaria), Cavtat (Croatia), Kalkan (Turkey) and Meis (Greek Island)
The most memorable place in the UK is probably the least well known out of all the places, Salen. Ardnamurchan is a fairly remote area of Scotland and we visited in January, when everything was shut, staying in a log cabin. I know this doesn't sound that exciting, but this place had the most amazing visitors...Pine Martens would visit the patio each evening, tucking into peanut butter. A truly unforgettable experience.
The most memorable place overseas is a bit harder to narrow down. Our favourite "happy" place is Kalkan in Turkey. We have visited 4 times and each time it gets better. During our time in Kalkan we have also visited a Greek island, Meis, located a short ferry ride away. Meis is a small island, with a small harbour, a few places to eat and stay. I know this doesn't sound that memorable, but what it also has something very special...turtles. The turles swim around the bay, popping their heads up to surprise and delight visitors. Truly memorable.
