Joy Proposal Story: Brandon & Johnathan

by Cali Pitchel

Brandon and Johnathan met on a dating website (which will go unnamed). They were both in a crossroads personally, and decided that the best way forward was as friends. Johnathan crafted a master plan: he talked Brandon into getting a personal trainer at his gym so they would see each other more often. Their friendship blossomed—they were best friends, soulmates, and eventually, the loves of each others’ lives. Brandon knew from the very first time they hung out that this was special, that John was the one for him, forever.

Give us the details! When? Where? How?

I proposed to John during my Birthday Trip to Miami Florida last August. It’s funny, we both talked about the idea of getting married and starting a family. I decided what a wonderful way to start the next chapter of my life by asking my love to marry me. I wanted it to be special and something that we would always remember. We went to Bayside Market in heart of Miami. While we were at the local vendor I spotted two rings and I asked John, “Let’s do this. Will you marry me?”

In this crazy world we live in today we find joy that we have the chance to love each other and to express our feeling openly. Our biggest joy is our commitment to making our life and family as one.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Our favorite part of planning this wedding is seeing our vision come to life. So many details go with planning a wedding, and we had no idea how much work is involved from the venue and flowers to the guest list. The best part of the planning is that we both have been hands-on to the very last detail of our special day. Yes, it has been stressful, but it also has made us a stronger couple as well. The biggest highlight was being able to support the people that support us—one of our good friends, Kay, did all our wonderful engagement photos.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

We are very good at keeping each other sane. We are like Yin and Yang. We have found that this day is about the two of use celebrating our love for each other and we try not to sweat the small things. We hold tight to our faith each day we pray “please give us the strength and financial to accomplish our task with our wedding” Holding on to our faith I know what is meant to be will be.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

It’s 2017, and the old fashioned way of doing invites and RSVP are so outdated. I love the fact we can manage our guest list online. Joy has all the tools you need to create a custom website and all the help you need is just a chat away.
