Joy Proposal Story: Chasity & Stephen

by Cali Pitchel

Chasity and Stephen met through the young adult ministry at their church. Stephen plays piano and Chasity sings on the worship team. Stephen kept his eye on her for two years before making his first move. Talk about patience! One night after a dinner with friends, Stephen texted Chasity to make sure she made it home safely. Three days later they went on their first date—and the rest, as they say, is history!

Give us the details! When? Where? How?

Stephen and I were chilling at his place when all of a sudden he said, “We have to go!” I was confused by his sudden urgency to leave that second, but he persisted, “Come on, babe. I have a surprise for you.” I reluctantly put on my shoes and asked where we were going. The cover up was that he had planned a monthly-versary dinner on a gondola ride (which was not unusual since we celebrate them every month), and everything that happened earlier that day kept me from thinking about a proposal.

There are many moments in life that pass us by, but love transcends time. The many details of our wedding may be forgotten, but we will never forget the feeling of joy, love, peace of that day.

So we arrive to the “gondola ride” dock station where Stephen led me to a bench as we waited. Soon after, our friend Colin comes out playing guitar and singing our favorite song. I figured something was up but Stephen confirmed by saying, “It’s time.” He led me up to a bridge overlooking a beautiful lake, got down on one knee, and I said, “Of course I will!” It was definitely a day I’ll never forget!
