Joy Proposal Story: Felicia & Zachary

Felicia and Zachary met through mutual friends at a summer bonfire just about three years ago. The two traveled to Europe so Felicia could run a marathon, but more importantly, to visit Prague, a place Felicia always dreamed of visiting. Little did she know that Zack would take the opportunity to make the trip extra special—read more about the proposal and what Felicia and Zack think is the most exciting part wedding planning (hint: it has nothing to do with the wedding).

Give us the details! When? Where? How?

This past October we were traveling Europe as I (Felicia) was running a marathon out there.  We were the most excited to visit Prague as it has been a lifelong dream of mine to visit.  My family is from there and the Patron Saint of my Alma Mater (St. Norbert) has a statue devoted to him on the Charles Bridge; therefore, I’ve been wanting to go my entire life.  Zack was excited to visit because of all the wonderful sights he had seen in pictures and always hearing great experiences of Prague.

On our last night there, we were walking on the Charles Bridge and stopped right in front of the statue of St. Norbert.  I figured Zack would want to take a few more pictures facing Prague Castle, but instead he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!  The first thing I said was “is this for real?” and he laughed and said “yes!” and then I said “yes of course!”  We were so caught up in the moment we didn’t realize that everyone on the bridge stopped to watch and they all started clapping when I said yes.  It was the most exciting moment for us both!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

We have been doing all of the planning together, so we are having fun coming up with colors, and food ideas, along with how we want everything to look.  It’s been a joint venture and we are looking at the entire day as one big party to have fun with.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

We make sure we have at least one day out of the week where we don’t talk about the wedding at all.  Trust me, it helps!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy should last forever. What does that mean to you?

It means that the biggest and most exciting part of a wedding, starts the morning after.  When you wake up and realize that the person you are with, is your partner for life.  That is the most joyous feeling in the world.
