Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
Kamau faked a photo shoot to propose to Ashley in Pittsburgh, PA at a location they both spent many hours at. The photographer and Kamau created an elaborate plan to get Ashley to come and take pictures. During the shoot, the photographer suggested taking some solo pictures with Ashley. As her back was turned, Kamau got down on one knee. The photographer told Ashley to turn around and Kamau was there waiting for her reaction. Ashley (as any person who was getting proposed to) stood in shock to the love of her life as Kamau asked Ashley to marry him.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
The best thing that we have experienced is telling individuals we were engaged. We chose not to put the exciting time on any social media outlet and instead conducted our “engagement tour” telling all of our friends as we spent time with them! It was exciting to see all of their expressions and love for the next step in our relationship.
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
We work out and do ministry with our churches to keep ourselves sane. The love and support that others are giving is the best!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
Our favorite thing about Joy is the ability to have everyone looking for information in one central location, and friendships can be created. This is really helpful because we have an individual who plans to attend who do not live close.
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
Take your time and explore all that Joy has to offer. Change things around and see what you like.
