Joy Proposal Story: Traci & Ron

by Cali Pitchel

How did the two of you meet?

We met at a big four public accounting firm. Traci was a first year staff and Ron was a summer intern.

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

On June 11, 2016 Ron planned a date to Fogo De Chao, Ron had never been and wanted to try the restaurant out. I was excited to go because I love the food and limeade drinks. On the ride home from the restaurant, Ron had created a playlist on his iPhone playing one of my favorite R&B groups Jodeci. As we got closer to home my favorite song “Stay” started to play and I was just singing along not thinking anything of it.

I was so excited and also thought, “it’s about time!”

As we pulled into the garage, I hoped out of his car and went into the house to turn the alarm off. I noticed Ron was mumbling something but I wasn’t really listening to what he had to say. As I turned around he was down on one knee in the laundry room asking for my hand in marriage. I was so excited and also thought, “it’s about time!” I said yes and the rest is history.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Working together to come up with our wedding theme New York with Kate Spade inspiration.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

We set one day aside each week to discuss what we need to get done. We also have a task list with completion dates that we target to get complete each month.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I love the layout of our website and that we have a FAQ section for our guests. I believe this will cut down on the amount of phone calls, email, text messages and Facebook messages from family and friends about details of our wedding day.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Sit down and put together a list of questions and answers you know your guests will have about your wedding day. It’s great that Joy already has questions to choose from, but I also suggest coming up with your own questions that are unique to your family and friends. Everyone always has so many questions about how the wedding day and weekend will flow. Having a one stop shop listing out these questions are a great way to cut down on guests reaching out to you directly!
