Real Wedding: Lavinia and Filippo

London-based couple Lavinia and Filippo share details from their Portugal wedding!

First off, congrats! What is your most memorable moment from the wedding?

We both talk about our first dance all the time. We danced to a song that means so much to us both, it was such a special moment.

What were the colors of your wedding?

Blue and White!

What do you think worked really well at your wedding that you would recommend every couple to do?

I am actually a wedding planner and own my own business. I would always recommend, no matter what your budget is, to get someone to help and oversee the wedding for you. I planned our wedding in Portugal from London and even though I am used to planning things for my clients around Europe, I did find a lady to help in the lead-up and on the day itself so I didn’t need to worry about anything!

Would you have done anything differently—splurge on a pricier dress, nix the favors, go for that extra passed appetizer?

Looking back, we would have liked to have had more festoon lights. We had them hanging over us the swimming pool and dining area but would have loved to have more in the garden for the lounge and dance floor area.

What tips do you have for other Joy couples still in the midst of wedding planning?

We immediately knew what look we wanted our wedding to have. We wanted a blue and white Mediterranean theme that was rustic but chic. I always recommend couples do a Pinterest board to get a clear idea of what they want so that when they close their eyes they can imagine the day.

What were your favorite features of Joy?

Creating the page and designing it was so much fun! We loved it!

At Joy we believe that although a wedding lasts one day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you and your partner?

Joy does last forever. It’s a memory of one of the best days of our lives!
