But the maid of honor can be anyone close to the bride who can handle the responsibilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What are her responsibilities?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The maid of honor is the bride\u2019s right hand gal. After supporting the bride in any way she needs, the maid of honor\u2019s biggest responsibilities can include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Planning the bachelorette party and\/or bridal shower<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Helping the bride choose her dress<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Helping the bride choose the bridesmaids&#8217; dresses<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Making sure her fellow bridesmaids have their outfits purchased in time for the wedding<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Attending pre-wedding events like the rehearsal dinner<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bringing up the groom\u2019s ring at the ceremony<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Holding the bride\u2019s bouquet during the ceremony<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Giving a toast at the reception<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She might also help with any wedding planning the couple requires, and will always try to put out fires without worrying the couple.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What does she pay for?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Financially, the maid of honor is usually responsible for:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An engagement gift<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Part of or the entirety of the bachelorette party and bridal shower, depending on whether or not she splits the cost with the other bridesmaids or the bride\u2019s family<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Her own dress, shoes, jewelry, etc. for the wedding<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A wedding gift<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of course, every wedding is different, but the maid of honor should expect to spend some amount of money while carrying out her duties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To help your bridesmaids save money, consider suggesting the bachelorette party and bridal shower be thrown at someone\u2019s house instead of out on the town, and allowing them to choose their own dresses and shoes.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can there be more than one?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your wedding can be anything you want it to be. If you have two special people and you can\u2019t choose between them, go ahead and have two maids of honor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>While definitely not mandatory, having a wedding party is a great way to honor your most important people.
