How did you get into photography? Are you self-taught or formally trained?<\/h2>\n

Formally trained in undergrad and then in 2010, a friend asked me to capture his wedding. It was a concert wedding that went on for two hours, but it was my first wedding I\u2019ve ever done.<\/p>\n

Describe your style in one sentence.<\/h2>\n

A documentary photographer that captures authentic moments.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

What\u2019s been your favorite experience as a wedding photographer?<\/h2>\n

I am a fun loving guy and I love capturing the party and receptions. Also, to know that I have captured a day that is the most important in someone\u2019s life. It will be looked back on again and again for years to come. To know that I helped create those memories means a lot to me.<\/p>\n

What do you love most about photographing weddings? Why do you photograph weddings in particular?<\/h2>\n

Each one is different and presents a new challenge. It\u2019s a good way to stay sharp as a photographer, a new venue, new couple and new vendors.  I also love to capture moments, the moment when the bride sees her dad for the first time before he gives her away and a groom seeing his bride for the first time is so special.<\/p>\n

Where is the most interesting or unique place you\u2019ve photographed a wedding? Was there anything especially challenging about it?<\/h2>\n

I loved being in Haiti for a wedding, I love the people and the culture and I trace my roots back there so it was extra special to photograph a wedding in that country!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Do you have a favorite, must-capture moment for every wedding?<\/h2>\n

I love capturing the groom reaction when he sees his bride for the first time.  I also love group portraits and wedding party portraits.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

As a photographer, what has been your biggest wedding day challenge?<\/h2>\n

Time and timelines. I love working with planners but the day moves so fast and before you know it, it\u2019s over.<\/p>\n

What are your favorite wedding trends to photograph right now?<\/h2>\n

I am loving first looks. Most of my couples are starting to do this. It takes some pressure off of photos immediately after the ceremony.<\/p>\n

How do you think an app like Joy can help make weddings better?<\/h2>\n

It helps streamline processes like save-the-dates, website details, and more. Anything that works on a smartphone is a huge help for today’s couples.<\/p>\n

If you weren\u2019t a wedding photographer, what would you be doing?<\/h2>\n

I would go back to teaching photography in the classroom at the high school or college level.<\/p>\n

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?<\/h2>\n

It means being a believer in love and doing everything to work at it every day. When times get tough, and they will, it\u2019s important to know the joy you felt on that day, can be recaptured with work and determination.<\/p>\n
