Lipari Island Hotel Options (for before or after the wedding weekend. See our itinerary for dates)

Hotels suggestions: Hotel Arciduca (we are staying here) ~$200/night), Hotel Giara (~$190/night very close to the main port), and Hotel Mea (~$250/night). Also there are scooter and buggie rentals to get around the island, here's one of the companies that has pre-booking (, info@noleggiodamarcello.com.) Most hotels have transportation to the hotel from the port, so it’s not necessary to pre-book the buggy/scooters you can always do that when you get there, if you choose to rent one. Also, don't forget to book your liberty lines hydrofoil ferry to get to and from the island and we suggest buying the +$6 bag fee as the website says each passenger is only allowed 1 small bag.

Reggio Hotel Options

Note

General American<>Italian booking tips :)

Some general booking tips: If you use Chrome, the browser will offer to translate webpages to English which can be helpful when booking hotels/scooters/transportation with smaller companies. Also, we've found if you translate your email request (translate.google.com) you will probably hear back sooner and most likely secure better rates too, so it’s worth it! More tips to come as we learn some more of these lessons the hard way ;)..

Car

Car Rentals in Reggio

There are only a handful of rental car companies in Reggio, so far we learned a few have booked with Avis. When booking hotels and car rentals, use the US sites like booking.com and google travel so your reservation is more secure (and the website and email confirmations are in English :) ).

Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our FAQ first!

Are kids welcome?

Yes

Where should I park?

We're providing transportation (bus) for the wedding night (8/12/17) from local hotels around Ferruzzano to the church/Piazza and back. We do recommend a rental car to get around from village to village and into town throughout the weekend.

Are the ceremony and reception locations wheelchair accessible?

Yes

What should I wear?

Summer chic or whatever suits your style

Is there transportation being provided between reception and hotels?

Yes, we're working on that.

What else is there to do in the area?

Best granita (a shaved fresh fruit italian ice) in the center piazza in Ardore. Gerace a medival charming village is definitely worth a visit/stroll around the town if you didn't have a chance to check it out after the rehearsal dinner. The town of Bianco has a feast and fireworks display on Aug 15th @ 9pm and 1am for the Ferragosto holiday. The quality of the fireworks are innovative and rival Macy's 4th of July show! Best beaches are in Ferruzzano (calm bath-like crystal clear water, Caruso's hometown beach), Bianco has nice beaches right near Hotel Maria for those staying there, and Bovalino hotel same thing, beachfront hotel access. All these towns are full of friendly locals, however bring your Italian/English dictionary or at least memorize bongiorno, grazie, & ciao :)
