Your presence is enough of a present to us. But for those who would like to give a gift, we are beyond appreciative of your kindness in helping us retire our mismatched items from college and Cam's high school bedspread (she had great taste, though).
We are registered at Crate and Barrel, as well as Amazon, and a few loose items from neither on WithJoy.
Thank you thank you thank you!
FAQs
Check out our most commonly asked questions below!
When is the RSVP deadline?
Please RSVP by Friday, August 26th!
What is the dress code? What does "creative black tie" mean?
The dress code, creative black tie, means 2 things:
1) This lends a bit of flexibility - it is not absolutely required for you to adhere to the traditional black tie standards in which you are expected to wear a specific tuxedo shirt paired with a black suit, or an evening dress. Please wear the dressiest clothing you have easy access to. If you don’t already have a tuxedo or a floor-length gown, a nice cocktail dress or a suit is perfectly acceptable!
2) The "creative" also means we are encouraging our guests to wear something a bit more fun and gala-like, should they so desire. This is a chance to don the tux, suit, dress, or jumpsuit you never get to wear! And yes, your favorite classy black dress is still a perfect choice - the creative is just an invitation to be more festive if you'd like.
FYI that the bridal party will be in emerald green, but you are still more than welcome to wear this color! We kindly ask for no white. And let us know if you have any questions!
What health & safety precautions are you taking?
We request that all guests attending our wedding weekend be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. We highly recommend bringing a mask and your COVID vaccine card (or a photo of it) with you for the weekend, as regulations and guidelines constantly shift and local establishments have an array of different requirements for entry.
As the situation is fluid, if any federal and/or local mandates & guidelines change, we will be updating this website with any changes to this plan. You can check on Durham's most updated guidance at any time here: www.durhamnc.gov/4013/City-of-Durham-COVID-19-Guidelines-Servi
Both our ceremony and reception are indoors. We respect that folks have many varying comfort levels, and leave the decision on what is best for you to each guest. We only request that you RSVP on time with your ultimate decision!
Are kids welcome?
Although we love your children, we regretfully cannot accommodate all of the wonderful kids in our lives at the wedding due to restricted numbers. We hope that all of our friends who are also incredible parents will see this as an opportunity to let their hair down and enjoy the party with us!
Can I bring a date?
All invites that include plus ones will be addressed as such and you will be able to RSVP for your guest on the portal. If your invite just has your name, we can't wait to see you!
What will the weather be like?
The million dollar question! October 1st, though it sounds like a beautiful fall day, can sometimes feel like August 1st in North Carolina. Temperatures can be as cool as 65°F in the evenings, and as high as 85°F during peak afternoon.
Are the ceremony and reception locations wheelchair accessible?
Yes! Duke Chapel is fully ADA accessible via a ramp on the courtyard-side of the Chapel, and you are welcome to remove one of the seats in front of the first pews to park a wheelchair. University Club also has ramp access on the left of the building's front, and the penthouse where the reception will be is only reachable by elevator for all guests.
Whom should I call with questions?
In the months leading up, please feel free to call or text Al or Cam!
On the day-of, please text or call our POCs: for questions for Al, please contact Gary Grumbach at (908) 425 6806. For Cam, please contact Katie Shannon at (203) 556 4011, or Chelsea Torres at (949) 413 0204.
Are there any other wedding weekend events I can attend?
Yes! On Friday, September 30th, we will be having a welcome reception on the outdoor patio at Parts and Labor (which is joined with Motorco Music Hall). This isn't a formal reservation, but a designated meeting point for anyone who would like to swing by and hang out to see everyone in town!
When are photos permitted?
We are having an unplugged ceremony. This just means we are asking that all phones and devices be put away and on silent/turned off during the ceremony. Jill Knight, our incredible photographer, and her team are here to capture one of the most important moments of our lives, and we'd hate to have a well-meaning person's phone blocking that moment for them to capture.
After the ceremony, feel free to take as many photos as you want - we welcome it!
I am coming from out of town. Where should I stay?
We have reserved two room blocks currently for our guests: one at the Residence Inn in Brightleaf Square, and one at the Aloft Downtown. Both are walking distance to wonderful restaurants and things to do. We recommend reserving early!
We additionally recommend a selection of other hotels and AirBnBs in the area. For more information and to book directly with our room blocks, please see the "Travel and Weekend Guide" tab.
Where can I park at the ceremony?
The closest public parking area to the Chapel is the Bryan Center Parking Garage at 125 Science Drive. ADA parking is available in the parking lot immediately in front of the garage. When the Bryan Center Parking Garage is full, other options include the Science Drive Lot and Science Drive Garage. Please leave plenty of time to park, as the availability of parking on campus varies considerably.
The cost to park is typically $2 per hour. For some special events, there is a $5 flat fee for parking in the Bryan Center Parking Garage and designated overflow areas. For event-specific parking instructions, please check the Duke calendar.
