Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q & A first!

Where is the venue?

Justine's Secret House in downtown east Austin. It is located at 1303 East 7th St. Austin, TX 78702. It is very much a "secret" house - you can't see it from the street. The entrance is an easily-overlooked wooden gate, right next door to Angie's Mexican Restaurant. Look for our entrance sign on the sidewalk!

What time should I arrive?

Doors open at 4:30 PM. The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:00 PM.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony will be held in a small courtyard outside, followed by a reception inside the house.

Looks like it might rain. What's your plan?

No worries! A tent will be covering the courtyard if it rains.

What should I wear?

Dress to impress! (Cocktail/Semi-formal)

Will food be served?

Yes! A French, (modified) family-style dinner will be served, along with an open bar.

Where should I park?

There is very limited, metered street parking available. We strongly recommend taking an Uber or Lyft!

There's also an underground parking garage located at 1108 East Sixth Street, two blocks away from the Secret House that belongs to the East Austin Hotel. Rates start at $6 for two hours and are $25/day for overnight parking. Here is a map:

What is the schedule of events?

Ceremony: 5:00-5:15pm
Cocktail Hour/Pictures: 5:15-6:30pm
Dinner: 6:30-7:30pm
Cake Cutting: 7:30pm
Erik Hokkanen Trio: 8-9pm
Last Call: 9:15pm
Event Ends: 9:30pm

Are masks required? Will they be provided?

As this is an intimate event with our closest family and friends, masks are not required. Please bring your own if you'd like to wear one! The waitstaff will be wearing masks, the bar has been moved outside, and the venue has taken steps to reduce "touch points" (including plating the family-style dinner, with an option for seconds).

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Absolutely! Snap away.

Where will you be headed after the reception?

Join us for a night cap at The Roosevelt Room! It's located at 307 W 5th St Unit B Austin, TX 78701

Did you get married?

Yes, we were married on April 16th, 2020 by a Justice of the Peace. It was a gorgeous day - sunny and cool. The COVID-19 shutdown was in full swing at this point, so the precinct building was actually closed. (Lights off, doors locked kind-of-closed!) I had to call the JOP's cell phone to let us in. We walked out twenty minutes later as husband and wife. It was a bittersweet day...we missed all of you dearly, but were overjoyed to be married!

So is this a wedding or a vow renewal?

Technically, it's a vow renewal, but since we were unable to have our wedding due to circumstances beyond our control, we still consider it our "wedding". Everything will be as originally planned....with one very significant new addition - our precious baby boy, Adam!

Did Candice change her name?

Yes 😊

Where are you registered?

We are registered at Amazon and Babylist. We've also included a link to Adam's 529 College Savings Fund.
Please see the Registry section!

Whom should I call with questions?

About Us

How did you first meet?

We met the old fashioned way - through a mutual friend.

Who made the first move? How?

Corey made the first move when he asked if Candice wanted to go on a walk with him. He took her to a secret overlook in Old West Austin called Castle Hill. It had the *best* view of downtown!

What was your most memorable date?

We spent one of our favorite dates at Universal Studios in Orlando - we both loved the Harry Potter-themed portion of the park.

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

We had the best time together in Costa Rica for Corey's birthday. We rented jet skiis, hiked through the rainforest, and relaxed in the thermal hot springs at the base of an active volcano!

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

We haven't decided yet!

What's your favorite activity together?

We favorite pastime is, by far, spending time with our favorite guy - Adam Walker! We *used* to love trying out new restaurants and going to various events with friends (haha). We also enjoy cooking meals together and finding new shows to watch.

What's the best meal you have eaten together?

We treated ourselves to a five-course meal at a unique Japanese restaurant called DipDipDip Tsu Ya a few months ago. (Shabu shabu style - meats and vegetables are cooked in a pot of broth and dipped in sauces). It was incredible!

Who said "I love you" first?

He did!

Who takes longer to get ready?

Definitely Candice.

Who's going to take out the trash?

Corey. And mow the lawn ;)

How did you propose?

Corey popped the question on Candice's birthday as they floated down Tugaloo River on the "Georgia Queen", a 230 ft. paddle-wheel riverboat in Savannah, Georgia.

Who is more stubborn?

We are tied!
