Getting In

We recommend flying into Baltimore-Washington International Airport. Whatever money you might save in tickets by choosing one of the DC airports will be offset by exorbitant land travel costs getting to and from Baltimore, and traffic is AWFUL.

Hotel Product

Hotel Revival Baltimore, West Monument Street, Baltimore, MD, USA

This is where our room block is, with a limited number of rooms available at a significant discount. It is an incredible hotel, with many spaces to dine, have coffee, sing Karaoke in a basement lounge, and just generally gather. It is also just a 12 minute walk from the ceremony and reception location. There might be limited space on one of the most popular wedding weekends in Baltimore, so use this link to reserve your room as soon as possible. hyatt.com/shop/bwijd

Hotel Product

Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel, East Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD, USA

If the Hotel Revival runs out of room, or you want to spend a little less money, this is a great hotel right on the Inner Harbor, the center of tourism in Baltimore. If enough people book here, we will reserve a shuttle from here to the wedding venue, which is just a short 8 minute drive away. There are about a dozen hotels in the area, all of which we're sure you'll enjoy, though avoid those north of Redwood, where things start getting a bit sketch.

Car

Getting to Hotel Revival (Mt. Vernon, Baltimore)

You will probably not need a rental car, even if you plan on doing some exploring in Baltimore. Parking is difficult, and all the cool stuff is within a $15 Lyft ride. BWI airport is just a 20 minute car ride from the hotel!

Story

On February 27th, 2019, Malcolm and Cara separately headed down to Washington, D.C. from Baltimore, not knowing that this day would change their lives forever. They were both there to attend a press conference in support of Rep. Pramila Jayapal's introduction of her Medicare for All bill in the US House. Learning Malcolm was part of a progressive organization Cara wanted to work with (thank you Erica!), she tapped him on his shoulder and said "Hey are you Malcolm?" When he turned around, Cara saw a beautiful and enthusiastic smile that she would never forget. They had just enough time fall in love, go to Paris, and meet each others' friends and families before the pandemic hit. They moved in together just 3 days after Baltimore officially went on lockdown. They got to know each other VERY well in the following months, but could not have dreamed of better quarantine partners. On August 31st, 2020 Malcolm surprised Cara by proposing to her at the very place on the US Capitol grounds where they first met. They are spending the summer traveling with friends, enjoying their first pandemic-free summer in their shared home and neighborhood in Highlandtown, and looking so forward to being with everyone we love on our wedding day!

Weather, Attire, and ?s

What about Covid?

We are requiring that all of our guests be vaccinated against Covid-19. You don't need to show your vaccine card at the door, but we trust you all are responsible people. We recommend bringing you vaccine cards, because Baltimore is a pretty liberal place and there may be some places you want to go that require them.
Baltimore City currently has a mask mandate for all indoor facilities in place. The ceremony is outdoors and the reception is indoors. We will be providing black and gold sequins masks for everyone attending the wedding.

What should I wear?

Our wedding is styled around the 1920s Baltimore speakeasy, which is a hodgepodge of art deco, prohibition distillery, and vintage style. We welcome you to dress in the spirit of this style, but we want all of our guests to wear something that they like, and is comfortable based on the weather (see next question).

What will the weather be like?

The ceremony will happen in an outdoor garden, shortly before sunset. The reception will be inside. The average temperature in Baltimore on Oct. 2nd is a high of 72 and low of 55, but as that is unpredictable at this point, we will keep this section updated as the date comes closer.

When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP by September 1st, so we can accommodate you the best we can.

Can I bring a date?

If your invitation envelope included "and guest" then you have a plus one!

Are kids welcome?

Yes!

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Please do not take pictures or videos during the ceremony. It's very important to us that everyone is present and engaged during this very important moment in our lives. Trust us, the professional photos will be all over social media once they come out! During the reception, take as many photos and videos as you like.

Whom should I call with questions?

Please contact our lovely bridesmaid, Cristen Bates. You can reach her by text or phone call at 417-827-9085.

Registry

We are luckier than most and have more than we need. Please do not feel obligated to give a gift. If you would like to contribute something in honor of our marriage, we will deeply appreciate your contribution to our honeymoon fund, or a few domestic items we would really love.
