Story

Casey and Joy first met back in October 2021 at Carters Red Wagon Farm. Casey was performing as King Arthur, and Joy came to help her friend by performing as a lady-in-waiting.

Even though Joy almost ended up killing Casey that day by jumping on his head, Casey was still intrigued by her beauty. After that day, he didn’t expect ever to see her again.

Shortly afterward, a mutual friend started hosting swing dances at which both Casey and Joy became regular attendees. They both got to know each other better by attending those dances.

Tidbits

Who made the first move? How?

Casey made the first move by asking Joy out on a date in October of 2022.
Joy had been invited to an event that Casey was performing at and after the day was done while Joy was waiting for the rest of her group so that they could leave, Casey came up and asked if she'd go out on a date with him! Surprisingly to the both of them, she said yes!!

What's your favorite activity together?

They love going on walks together and reading to each other. They also have lots of fun swing dancing and learning new moves!

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

In May, they went out to where Casey grew up in Montana, which was a lot of fun! Joy hadn't been that far west before, so the countryside was totally new to her, and Casey got to show her all the special places that he'd lived or visited when he was younger!

A life goal of ours

The couple wants to visit a couple of places while they are still young, own their own land, build their own house, and raise some little Fitzpatricks!

How did Casey propose?

Casey had planned a surprise birthday party for Joy, and he'd taken her on this scavenger hunt before the actual party. After they'd gotten some food, Casey told Joy that he had one more surprise gift for her. He told her that it was a birthday photo shoot because Joy would always tease Casey that she had hardly any photos with him in it.
He brought her to Heartland Park, where the photographers were waiting, and after a few photos were taken, the photographers told Joy to stand facing away from Casey so that he could run up behind her and give her a hug. She turned around, but Casey didn't come and give her a hug. Instead, he proposed to her!
It was a very surreal moment for both of them.

Registry

This is more of a guide so that you can see what items we're looking to use in our future life together! You are not required to buy from the vendors listed. If you happen to find the perfect gift on sale at a thrift store for half the price but the same quality, please buy that instead if you're looking at getting us a gift!

Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions (especially about Covid) , please check out our Q & A first!

When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP by August 18th so that we can have an accurate headcount. :)
Yes, it's a little early, but we don't want to worry about forgetting people as the day gets closer, and more stress can pile on.
Both Casey and Joy are of the mindset that you should get things done as soon as you can instead of waiting until the last minute, which has spilled over into the RSVP date.

What's the deal about the Covid note?

That note does not have anything to do with how either of the couple's parents feel about it and was not the couple's parents idea in any way shape or form. The couple decided on the design, wording and rsvp date by themselves.

When Casey and Joy were planning out the invitations they had talked about people showing up to the wedding and wearing masks. They did not want any covid paraphernalia ending up in photos. This is something that they feel strongly about as each of them had horrible experiences with restrictions in the past and because of that they want to stay as far away from any of that as possible. They wanted a freeing environment, not a restricted one. They also didn't want physical reminders of the pandemic that rocked the world for the past few years. Who wants to be thinking about that during thier wedding day?

It was not thier intention to be rude or to cause issues. they simply wanted to state thier opinion simply and concisely about what they'd like on their wedding.

What will the weather be like?

Minnesota in October can either be nice and sunny or cold and chilly... It's also been known to snow! As the date gets closer, pay attention to what the weather is doing up in this neck of the woods.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

They are planning on having the ceremony outdoors and the reception and dance indoors. But if there is inclement weather, They are going to move the ceremony indoors as well!

Will food be served?

Yes

Will there be dancing?

Yes! Dancing will be happening after the food.

Can I bring a date?

The answer depends on who you are and who your date is as the couple would like people they know at thier wedding and they do have a limited budget. If you have any questions about this, please contact the bride or groom.

Can we decorate your “Just Married” getaway car?

Absolutely not!!!!!

Where should I park?

There is plenty of parking in front and to the right side of the church.

Will I have to pay for parking?

No

I am coming from out of town. Where should I stay?

There are hotels available in the nearby towns of Detroit Lakes, Park Rapids, and Wadena. There are other places, such as resorts or air B&Bs nearby as well. You can see the Travel tab for links to help book a place to stay, or you can research accommodations on your own.

Is transportation being provided between reception and hotels?

No, there is not. Guests are responsible for their own transportation.

Are there any colors that guests should avoid wearing?

White or other forms of white such as cream, eggshell, off-white, or even beige and blush. Especially the women's clothing.
It's simply a courtesy to the bride to choose a different color than the color she's wearing.

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

Ladies, please do not wear stiletto heels. There are a bunch of grassy/dirt areas that you might have to walk in, so wear chunky heels or sandals. And if you are looking forward to some dancing later in the afternoon, make sure your shoes are comfortable enough for that!

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Yes, as long as they are not posted on social media or shared anywhere else or with anyone else other than the couple. The couple wishes to be the first to announce their marriage and doesn't feel comfortable with their photos being blasted over the internet.
Also if you are taking photos, please do not get in the way of any of the paid photographers as they are working hard at their job.

Is there a gifts registry?

Yes. Their Registry is on "Joy". Their registry pulls from many different stores, so they wouldn't have to make registries at a whole bunch of stores or choose only one store to register at when other stores might have an item cheaper.
They do have an Amazon Registry that is interwoven with the registry on Joy, but they do not have any other external registries.

Will last names be changing after the wedding?

After they are married, they shall be known as Mr. and Mrs. Fitzpatrick.

Why did you choose the venue you are using?

They originally looked at quite a few options to serve as a venue all around the Bagley and Park Rapids areas, but all of them fell through for various reasons. They were finally able to look at their current venue and decided that this place would work for their ceremony and reception!
They had originally thought of this venue, but with the original wedding date, it wasn't available. But by moving the date up one week, they were able to secure it.

Whom should I contact with questions?

Contact Joy via social media or Casey through phone or email.

Travel/Accomadations

Plane

Getting In

If you are flying in, we recommend flying into the Fargo-North Dakota Airport as, according to the research, looks like it would be the cheapest to fly into and out of. Minneapolis-Minnesota Airport is also a good regional airport, although the Fargo one is slightly closer.
