Q & A
Hopefully all you need to know is covered here - but please get in touch if you have any more questions.
When is the RSVP deadline?
Please RSVP by August 21st so we can make sure there is enough cake for everyone!
Are kids welcome?
We've kept guest numbers low for flexibility, so we are only able to accommodate the people named on your invitation.
Young / nursing infants are of course welcome but please let us know if they are coming and if you will be bringing a pram/carrier or if you need a highchair.
What transport/parking is available ?
For the ceremony, we have a bus going from Glasgow University to Killearn Village Hall with plenty of space. Parking at the University is limited so if it suits please consider public transport to the ceremony.
There is plenty of parking at Killearn Village Hall if needed.
Local taxis are available on Ambassador Taxis 0141 956 2956 or Station Taxis 0141 942 4555 (Uber does not generally pick up in Milngavie/Killearn!). If you would like to share a taxi or car-share with other guests please let us know and we can put you in touch with each other.
For the end of the night, we will have a bus leaving Killearn at midnight, with various drop offs on the route back via Milngavie to Glasgow.
If this doesn't suit, local Killearn taxis are available: Drymen Taxis 01360 660 077, Alba Taxis 01360 771 321, or Blanefield Cars 01360 770 646. The Milngavie taxi numbers above may also pick up in Killearn. We suggest booking in advance if possible.
What time should I arrive?
The ceremony will begin at 2pm, so please arrive in good time before then to take your seat.
What accommodation is nearby?
We suggest the Premier Inn hotels in Milngavie (Burnbrae and West Highland Gate) as a convenient option. We can also try to arrange evening bus drop offs near to west end or city centre hotels if that suits better.
Smaller B&B or self catering accommodation may be available near to Killearn - the villages of Strathblane, Balfron or Drymen would be good options for easy travel to/from the reception venue. The bus can stop in Blanefield/Strathblane.
And....What about Covid?
Honestly...who knows!?
At the moment we are hopeful we will be able to have a day reasonably free from restrictions. We hope to hug and dance with as many of our guests as possible! It seems likely masks will still be required at times such as during the ceremony or on the bus.
We will keep an eye on the restrictions as they change, and take advice from our venues. We'll make sure ventilation and sanitiser etc is available, and if the weather permits will use the outside space at Killearn as much as possible.
We'd appreciate if guests could activate the NHS Protect Scotland app for contact tracing, and consider doing a lateral flow test before attending the wedding. If you prefer to wear a mask, and avoid close contact with other guests, we of course understand this. If there is anything else we can do to make you comfortable attending our wedding, please let us know.
If any changes to our plans are needed due to increased restrictions, we will contact you with an update.
Is there a gifts registry?
Your presence at our wedding is enough of a gift, but should you wish to buy us something, we’d greatly appreciate a contribution towards our honeymoon in Cornwall, or towards kitting out a home of own in the hopefully not too distant future.
I have a question not answered here; how do I contact you?
You can contact Clare on 07407 631 305 or Chris on 07584 827 260.
