Our Story
Connor moved to Palo Alto, California on Saturday, September 27, 2014 and just hours later sent Marissa a message on OKCupid inviting her to coffee at the iconic Seattle coffeehouse (i.e. Starbucks) on Sunday, September 28, 2015. As luck would have it, Marissa was staying nearby to Palo Alto at her sister's house that weekend so the timing was perfect. With her wardrobe back up in San Francisco, Marissa borrowed a "date shirt" from her sister and Connor left his boxes unpacked and they met up and spent three hours drinking coffee and walking around the farmer's market. Finally, after Connor was all talked out, he walked Marissa to her car and said "see you in the future!" While Marissa assumed that was a "nice to meet you, have a good life" kind of comment, Connor (who is quite literal) did indeed mean he would see her in the future. He asked her out again later that day and they've been together ever since!

Travel Recommendations
Hilton Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley (Preferred Hotel)
This is a lovely hotel, about 15 minutes from the wedding venue and within close driving distance of hiking, restaurants and beaches. This hotel will be home base for Marissa and Connor, will have shuttle pick up/drop off for the wedding and will be the site of our brunch on Sunday morning! Call or use group code "GJWB" online to access the Garfield/Johnson block for rooms at $199-220/night (plus taxes) with complimentary parking (Fri/Sat). If you want to book for Thursday or Sunday night, try either joining the free Hilton Honor's club or use AAA for a reduced price. PLEASE BOOK EARLY-hotels are limited in the area, will fill up fast and prices will increase!
Other Hotels
There are several other hotel and motel options in Santa Cruz if you decide not to stay at the Hilton but be aware that these will not have shuttle pickups/drop-offs and you'll need to drive to the Hilton to catch the shuttle. Hotels in the area are very limited and it's a popular weekend so please book early before they fill up and prices increase!
Airbnb
Airbnb is another great option if you want to stay in a room, apartment or rent a full house for you and your family/friends. We recommend you stay close to the Hilton if you want to utilize the shuttle and have an easier time getting to the other weekend events. Use our code for $40 off your stay www.airbnb.com/c/marissag194
San Jose International (SJC) or San Francisco International (SFO)
San Jose is the closest airport, approximately ~35 minutes from the preferred hotel. You will want to rent a car, but note that the main road into the mountains is 2 lanes in each direction and somewhat windy so notify us if you'd like to carpool with others and we'll do our best to connect you. San Francisco is a larger airport and may have more direct flights but will take at least ~1 hour to get to the hotel. Please be aware that rush hour could double your commute time so please plan accordingly and avoid if at all possible!
You'll want a car!
This area of town will have some access to Uber or Lyft but you'll want a car to get from the airport to the hotel and then around to see the sites (and there are a lot). We will offer a shuttle from our preferred hotel to and from for the wedding but if you want to consider other options, get $20 in credit for Lyft by using discount code "MARISSA640199" and up to $20 from Uber using "uayqe" for first time users. Please be aware that some hotels may charge for parking and if you plan to visit San Francisco before/after the wedding weekend, the parking costs are astronomical and a car isn't needed so you may want to skip the car for that portion of the trip.
Complimentary shuttle to/from the wedding. We'll follow up with more details as we get closer to the event.

Things to see and do in San Francisco
Check out these top sites to see in San Francisco! San Francisco is 2+ hours from the wedding venue, so you'll want to plan any trips to the city the days before/after the wedding to really enjoy it!
Things to see and do in Santa Cruz
Santa Cruz has mountains, beaches, rollercoasters and so much more. Just ~15 minutes from the hotel, these are great activities to check out during the wedding weekend.
Check out Highway 1 and the beautiful California coast
Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur are some of our favorite places and about 2-3hours from the hotel, perfect for filling the days before/after the wedding. Visit Point Lobos (where Connor proposed to Marissa) on the way and make sure to check road conditions for routes before you go. A stretch of Highway 1 is closed due to our recent rain, flooding and bridges collapsing so you want to plan around that section of Big Sur.
