Getting to Guatemala

Look for flights to Guatemala City International Airport (also called La Aurora International Airport or GUA).

Note

Getting To Antigua

Antigua is a 45-90 minute drive (depending on traffic!) from Guatemala City Airport. While it's easy to find transportation once you're there, if you prefer our wedding planner can help organize transportation for those who want to pre-book a ride. If you want to do this please email Silke & Patricia directly - brideandgroomgt@gmail.com.

Note, pre-booking will be more expensive than finding a taxi or an Uber once you're there.

Q & A

For all our friends and family with additional questions, please check out our Q&A first!

What should I wear?

Dress code for Friday is dressy casual, so think what you’d wear on a night out to a nice dinner — nice shorts or slacks for men and dresses or slacks for women. Saturday is semi-formal, so this is closer to cocktail attire — button downs and sport coats for men, and dresses or nice slacks for women. If you have any questions here, don't hesitate to give us a shout!

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Our wedding ceremony is outdoors, but our reception will be indoors. There will be a lot of indoor and outdoor options so plan for both.

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

Antigua is a very walkable city, but the streets and sidewalks are cobblestone and we'd hate for anyone to get hurt, so please bring sneakers or shoes you're comfortable walking around in.

Porta Hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the venue, so if you do plan on walking to the wedding from the hotel and plan to wear heels, please feel welcome to bring a change of shoes :)

Additionally, we'd advise against wearing heels that may sink into the grass, as our wedding will be in the garden area.

What will the weather be like?

Average daily temperatures are in the mid 70s°F, with night-time lows around 60°F. It is the rainy season, so bring something waterproof, but it doesn't rain every day and we're hoping we'll be qlucky throughout the trip!

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Yes, we'd love for you to take photos but please refrain from taking photos during the ceremony.

In addition, we'll be handing out disposable cameras at each event and would love for you to use them to take photos so that we can see the festivities from your perspective!

Is there transportation being provided between reception and hotels?

No. Antigua is very walkable though Ubers are available if needed!

What should I pack?

There are tons of great outdoor activities to do, and as mentioned, Antigua is a very walkable city (about 20 minutes of walking can get you pretty much anywhere). We'd recommend packing comfortable sneakers, hiking shoes if you plan to hike the volcanoes, and a swimsuit for the pool if your hotel has one! Bring comfortable clothes for warm weather, and don't forget your wedding attire!

What if I have a dietary restriction?

Please let us know! We will happily accommodate you.

Where are you registered?

We know it's a big ask for you to travel to celebrate with us, so you presence at our wedding is all we request :)

Are kids welcome?

Yes! We want everyone we love there, and that includes kiddos! Please make sure to identify your kids on your RSVP so we have the right headcount & food options.

When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP by April 30th, so we can have an accurate headcount as early as possible! :)
