We first met back in 2014 on our first day in medical school, in Kraków, Poland. It was Dan's first time in Poland and it was the start of many new adventures in Europe for the both of us. We attended Jagiellonian University in Kraków and were lucky to call this beautiful city our home for the next four years. Our class was small (only 30 people) so we all easily became friends. To this day we remain very close! As a class we spent our days joking around in anatomy lab, wandering the beautiful Rynek (town square), enjoy the sun by the Wisła, or exploring the underground pubs of Kraków. If you were looking for us on a Tuesday night, a safe bet was to check the infamous Pub Quiz in the basement of House of Beers!

After three years of friendship, we finally went on our first date. We went to Karakter, a restaurant in Kazimierz, which was conveniently across the street from Liz's favorite ice cream stand, Good Lood. Karakter quickly became our favorite restaurant and make efforts to go back every time we're in the city!

Whether it's been surprise trips to Tropea in the south of Italy or hiking expeditions to Machu Pichu in Peru, our shared passion for traveling and food have brought us far away from home, but closer together as a couple. Living in Europe gave us easy access to some of the most amazing countries and cultures in the world, it’s hard to imagine a life where travelling isn’t an integral part of our relationship. We did make an effort to study between trips though, we promise! That being said, travelling hasn’t always meant vacation for us. Medical residency training brought us to the United States and separated us for three years, Liz in Chicago and Dan in Cleveland, with “only” a 5-hour drive between the cities. Luckily for us, our dog Winter LOVES car rides!

In August 2021, after the COVID lockdowns, we returned to Poland for the first time since we graduated medical school. Dan proposed back at Karakter where it all started all those years earlier. Since our engagement a lot has changed…we now both live in Cleveland, we’re building a house and we’re both working as physicians; Liz as a pediatrician and Dan as a cardiac anesthesiologist. Who knows where life will take us next, but we know we’ll be doing it with each other on our side!

Our journey has taken us all over the globe, so we're excited to finally be able to celebrate our big day back home in Canada! Whether you're able to be with us in person or not, we want to thank all of our family and friends for supporting us through the years, you're more responsible for our success than you can imagine! Aug 31st can't come soon enough!
