Story
I first saw Daniel in the Cafe Van Kleef in Oakland, CA. I was drinking Grey Hounds (Cafe Van Kleef has fabulous Grey Hounds) and waiting for my date to show up. Daniel walked in to the room towering over everyone at the bar and I was at first a bit intimidated. However, he was so polite when he came over and introduced himself, I was instantly at ease.
We had a lovely conversation, where I learned about Daniel's world travels, including his secret past as football star in Mississippi. I think he also was sufficiently reassured that I was not a Republican, haha. We wrapped up with evening with smiles and a hug and immediately afterwards Daniel was trying to arrange the next date.
I admit, Daniel did have to chase quite a bit to date me in the beginning, but I'm glad he did. When he did get me to go out with him again, we just talked for hours, about history, politics, our travels, living aboard, and our deep love for our families. Through these conversations, I learned what a special person Daniel is. He truly has an inner light that shines on anyone that his with. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life talking and laughing together.
