Franklin, MA, USA
Story
It was a brisk day in March of 2015 when Liz and Simon met at the Thinking Cup coffee shop for their first date. That was the year of the "snow-pocalypse" and the fresh snow on the Boston Common glittered in the sun. The cafe was crowded so the couple decided to walk through the Common and Public Garden with steaming cups of coffee in hand, laughing and chatting as they navigated the snow drifts. It was so easy to speak with each other that the hours flew by and an afternoon coffee soon became dinner (where Simon famously introduced Liz to buffalo chicken wings). Though they didn't want the date to end, Liz had a train to catch so the couple parted ways at the station after making plans to meet again soon.
Looking back on that first date over coffee, it was clear that it was a simple and unassuming start to what would become a beautiful and enduring love story. Seven years later, Liz and Simon were married in a small ceremony in Franklin, MA on November 24, 2022.
Tidbits
Who made the first move? How?
After the first date, Simon texted Liz the next day to see a new sci-fi movie together. While the movie itself was a bust, we had a lovely time because we were together.
Who's going to take out the trash?
Liz :P (but Simon does the dishes)
What was your most memorable date?
Visiting Montreal on a whim over Halloween weekend! It was Liz's first visit to Canada and Simon reconnected with a childhood friend who was living there at the time. We went to the best party, but had to scrounge together costumes at the last minute.
What's your favorite activity together?
Long rambles in the woods or along the beach. Since moving to Malden, MA, we've spent a lot of time exploring the Fells Reservation together.
Where are you going for your honeymoon?
We're planning a trip to Japan in 2024!
What's the best meal you have eaten together?
Erbaluce in Bay Village (Boston) for Simon's birthday several years ago--each course was divine. The restaurant has since closed, but it was a perfect night.
What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?
In 2017, we spent three weeks traveling around China together. It was an incredible experience and we've been trying to recreate our favorite dishes at home ever since.
We’re on the same page about
What's important to us... and that's spending time with the people we love most. (All of you!)
Registry
We have lived together for awhile now and so we’ve created a wish list of items to complete our home. However, your love and friendship is the greatest gift we could ask for!
