What should I wear?

Anna says, “Summer chic,” and Erik says, “What is ‘chic’?” Summer dresses, khakis, comfy shoes — it’s a museum, there will be dancing and photos. You do you!

Will there be any activities happening that I need to know about?

Yes! Guests receive a same-day pass to the Science Museum of Minnesota, so please enjoy your time there. Also, if you'd like to learn a new dance move, join us for a swing dancing lesson during the cocktail hour (5:00-6:00 PM).

What to do in MSP

If you were Erik, you would bike along the Mississippi River, grab a burger at Matt’s Bar and Grill OR one of the Blue Door pubs, and pull out your laptop over a pint at Venn Brewing. If you were Anna, you would hike in the Three Rivers Park District, say hi to the baby camel & tiger at the Minnesota Zoo, and hear a concert at Orchestra Hall. Have fun!!

Story

Erik asked, "Would you like to go out to dinner with me, on a date, romantically?"


~ About one year earlier ~
For several months after Anna started working at TempWorks, Anna and Erik knew each other only as disembodied heads within Zoom meetings. Erik worked in IT, and Anna was a Software Developer. They often discussed problems in technology, and they gamed together with the IT team on Friday evenings.

Sometime in June 2021, Anna received a flyer in the mail for the Bell Natural History Museum. She thought it would be nice to go with Erik, but she decided not to ask because he might think it was a date. She did not want to broach the thorny topic of workplace romances.

Erik was not so shy. On July 15, he asked her out, and she said yes. (Their first date was at the Natural History Museum.) Six months later, she said yes again!

Tidbits

What's your favorite activity together?

We like to talk (a lot). We enjoy cooking together, sailing, and dancing.
We've tackled projects like repairing furniture and appliances, frankensteining a wall-mounted PC from a broken laptop, and tricking Anna into making her own engagement ring on a lathe.

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

We're aiming for Iceland!

The most spontaneous thing we’ve done

On a warm, sunny day, Anna was sitting at a TempWorks picnic table and noticed how windy it was. "Hmm," she mused, "this could have been a great day to go sailing."
"What do you mean, 'could have been'?" Erik scoffed. "Let's take PTO and go."
And so they did.
