Story

We met 6 years ago while at a Pride event in NYC on June 26th (also know as Equality Day). We knew we had something special and on July 16th we decided to become boyfriends. We knew back then that despite living in different cities there was something about our relationship that was worth fighting for.

Over these past 6 years we have stood by each other's side. We helped each other to become stronger individuals. Together we have faced our greatest fears, loss, and obstacles. Whenever we got anxious or scared we would remind each other of what was truly important. We would remind each other to stay in the present moment and refocus on our many sources of love and joy in our lives.

On June 26, 2022, with the extensive help of all of our family and friends we got engaged! On July 16, 2022 we celebrated our love in front of childhood friends and family in Michigan. On October 8th, 2022 we had a small ceremony at Belvedere Castle in Central Park and signed the legal documents for our marriage in front of our friends and family!

Now we are excited to have our loved ones from around the world help us celebrate our special day in Gran Canaria on October 8th, 2023!

Sitges Get Away (Oct/3 - Oct/6)

After spending the week in Barcelona, we'll be exploring Sitges for a few days before the wedding. It is a short 35 min drive from Barcelona (you can take a taxi or train). We will be there Tue Oct/3 - Fri Oct/6. On Friday we head out to airport to meet up with everyone else in Gran Canaria!

Friday Night Pup Crawl 🐶

To celebrate the start of the weekend let's explore the local bars and clubs in Gran Canaria/Maspalomas together. Instead of a pub crawl we will have a pup crawl!

We'll meet at the hotel lobby (Bohemia Suites) and walk together to Yumbo Centrum where all the bars are clustered (a short 10min walk)

Suggested outfits: Have fun! Think Cruella de Vil, 101 Dalmatians, any drag/pup-inspired looks, or your favorite black/white/red look.

Priscilla Queen of the Sand Dunes 👠🪩 (Afternoon)

Let's have some fun and explore the iconic sand dunes together. Start the day by being as queer and over the top as possible. The fiercer the better.

We'll have some fun and fabulous phots to start the day. Afterward we can walk around town and explore the local area/shops.

We'll meet at the hotel lobby and walk over to the dunes together.

Suggested outfits: kaftan, boas, feathers, sequins, or anything flowy… if you think a fabulous drag queen would wear it then it is perfect!

White Party Eleganza Extravaganza (Evening)

6:00 PM

White is the color of purity and virginity so it is the perfect way to celebrate. Use your imagination and have fun with this. We want to maximize quality time and having photos to remember the trip

We will begin @6pm with cocktails by the water. We'll break into small groups for photos. Then we can head out to dinner and a show @8-11pm

For dress code, ultimately just be comfortable and wear something that brings you joy 🌈. We suggest the inspiration of Sparkles and Disco 🪩✨. Hugo is known for sparking joy everywhere he goes and brightening up our lives. Xander is known for his love of both shiny objects and also brining light and joy to those around us.

Post Wedding Relaxation / Exploration of Gran Canaria 🏖️

For those of you who want to stay in Gran Canaria few extra days, we'd love to explore the island together with you. Gran Canaria is a mini continent offering beautiful hikes, mountain views, snorkeling, and adventure.

We are flying back to Barcelona on Wednesday (Oct/11) afternoon, before heading back to NYC on Thursday (Oct/12).

Getting In

The only airport is Gran Canaria Airport (LPA). You can fly into Barcelona or Madrid and take any of the regional airlines (e.g., Vueling, Iberia, AirEuropa – sample Google flights link below).

For those flying SkyTeam, when we booked our flights it was much cheaper to book the intra-Spain flights separately than as part of the transcontinental flight.

What will the weather be like?

In early October, Maspalomas typically experiences warm and pleasant weather, with clear and sunny days.

Check the weather before packing, but expect average daytime temperatures ranging from 73-81 degrees Fahrenheit (23 to 27 degrees Celsius).
