Getting Partnershipped

For anyone who hasn't been to a civil partnership before, no fear, it’s going to seem like a wedding. There’s very little difference in the ceremony, or the process.

The important thing for us, is to have our favourite people with us whilst we commit to one another and celebrate.

We want you to feel comfortable. If you want to wear skinny jeans and an oversized tshirt, or a Erdem dress and fascinator, go for it. It’s a celebration, not a court date!

Ladies, if you have a favourite white dress, please feel free to wear it, there won’t be one worn by us!

Our guide to Liverpool

Our favourite brunch/lunch spots

Leaf - Lou’s favourite breakfast spot. Order the poached eggs and a large pot of tea.

Moose - if you fancy an American style breakfast, they even do a Donald Trump inspired dish.

Ryde - at Cairns Brewery in the Baltic. You can also get your bike fixed whilst you eat the black pudding and beans!

Food markets - try the Baltic or Duke Street. The Baltic is more laid back, Duke Street has a great wine selection.

Bakchich - there are two branches of this one - one on Bold Street and one in Williamson Square.

Our favourite dinner spots

Mowgli - delicious Indian street food. Book into the one on Water Street, otherwise it’s Bold Street for the walk in.

Patterson’s - NOM. fried chicken done BRILLIANTLY.

Wreckfish - beautifully cooked food, gorgeous building, right in the centre of town.

Polidor 64 - this is on Lark Lane, and well worth the trip. They once ignored the fact we were eating our own Toblerone with our after dinner drinks.

Sightseeing

If you haven’t ‘done’ Liverpool before, then visit the Pier Head and Albert Dock.

Make sure you pop into the Tate and the Museum of Liverpool. Visit the Maritime Museum - check out the Seized exhibit.

Been to Liverpool before, and already been given the patented ‘Lou tour’? Then get yourself to the Walker Gallery, check out the stunning Central Library, and have a lunchtime pint at the Merchant.

If you’re staying out in the suburbs, visit Lark Lane and Sefton Park. It’s where we live, and we love it here. If you spot a cheeky black and white cat, make sure you give it a stroke. It might be Darwin!

Our favourite drink spots

Jenny’s - You may actually find Chez here, drinking an Old Fashioned.

Merchant - Two for One gins at the right time. They also do pizza, which is delicious.

Duke Street Food Market - they have a great wine selection

Pogue Mahone’s - this is where we met! If you really want to recreate the moment, you’ll need to order a Guinness and a Diet Coke, and ask Simon to join you.

Jacaranda - ‘The Jac’ - a Liverpool institution. The Beatles performed here in the 1950s, and Lou once danced on a table in 2007.

El Bandito - It describes itself as a ‘tequila haven’ - and this would be entirely accurate!

Berry and Rye - The best speakeasy in town.

McGuffie’s - A great little bar to grab a coffee or a cocktail after dinner.
