Our Story
In true Millennial fashion, our story began in the world of online dating. After a few messages back and forth, we agreed to meet on a chilly fall Monday evening for drinks and a show at Icehouse — a local restaurant and music venue.
Tim was excited and arrived early in his grey jacket. Jen later admitted she felt a bit under-dressed, but forgot all about it when she saw Tim’s smiling blue eyes. We went next door to grab a quick cocktail before the show, and found ourselves talking the night away.
The live music went late, and a few sipping shots were shared over conversation about family, upcoming holiday activities and of course, comparing answers to our matchmaking questions! It was just the start of many wonderful memories to come.
Tidbits
How did you propose?
For the past couple of years, Jen has booked a nice restaurant for Valentine’s Day dinner — but this year Tim prepared a surprise and asked her not to make plans.
He made reservations for dinner and music at Ice House, picked her up from work with flowers, chocolates, a Valentine’s card and brought along her hiking boots and scarf. Tim was sure Minnehaha Falls Park would be filled with people, but when we arrived we were the only ones there! We slid down the icy stairs to see the frozen waterfall where we had hiked on one of our earliest dates.
Just when Tim had accepted there might not be a picture of the proposal, another couple appeared on the trail. As the passersby took the photo, Tim knelt and asked Jen — using his mother’s engagement ring for the proposal — “Honey, I have a question for you: Will you Marry Me?” Jen gasped (pictured), and quickly said yes!
What's the best meal you have eaten together?
We were fortunate to get a seat at an incredible restaurant named Pakta, while traveling in Barcelona. The food was unlike anything we have ever tried, a meal of 12 small, artfully prepared courses of Peruvian & Korean cuisine.
What was your most memorable date?
When we went to a wine and painting class, and painted the Stone Arch Bridge and Minneapolis skyline. Later that night, Tim thought we should find that same view, so we rode our bikes across town, over the Stone Arch, threw our bikes in the bushes and slid our way down the muddy trail to the river to capture the exact shot.
What's your favorite activity together?
Running around the lakes in the summer, and shaking up a good homemade cocktail!
What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?
We traveled to Ireland and Iceland for 10 days in Fall 2017, exploring castles and unbelievable waterfalls.
