Our Story
We'd love to say that we met through friends or at a protest against tax cuts for billionaires. But the truth is we met on a dating app called Hinge. The cute thing is that Kelsey was living in Washington, D.C., while Jeremy was living an hour away in Baltimore, but somehow we still matched. We like to joke that “The Algorithm” knew that we were meant to be!
Jeremy was curious about Kelsey including “Liberation Theology” in her dating app bio. Kelsey was drawn to how Jeremy described his political views. If we’re not careful, we can spend hours talking about politics, spirituality, worker cooperatives, climate change, racial justice, or some other social issue. Kelsey is a political campaign director, and Jeremy is a therapist, after all. Shared curiosity about big things is important to our relationship.
So is food and adventure! We love to cook, try new restaurants, host dinner parties, and structure our travel around eating. Just this year, we’ve been blown away by Oaxacan food in Los Angeles, Detroit-style mushroom pizza in Santa Cruz, and crispy tofu bites from a Taiwanese-fusion place literally in the alley outside our back door in Baltimore! As you’ll see in our registry (www.zola.com/registry/kelsandjer), if you’re excited to give us a gift, we’d deeply appreciate help funding our honeymoon, which will involve lots of great food!
We got engaged surrounded by family in a tiny Colorado mountain town filled with juniper trees and Buddhist monasteries. We wanted love and support around, because, like everyone, we can’t do this alone. As Kelsey’s Instagram bio says, “The whole point of everything is each other.” That’s why we’re ecstatic and honored to have you and the rest of our community with us to celebrate. See you soon!
