Story

We met years ago at the good old Family Leisure Centre in Medicine Hat. I had had a crush on her for a few months (years...) but sparks really flew one fateful June afternoon when Jordan was frustrated at the pools scheduling, which was a usual occurrence. I expressed empathy at his situation with a soft touch on his rather muscular forearm and from then on, it was meant to be. Our first date was a movie night at Jordan's house where I brought the original "It" movie from 1980 to watch. In the spirit of clowns, I was so nervous I didn't even notice that the wrong side of the DVD was playing, so we watched the end of the movie before the beginning. I babbled on non-stop comparing it to the book and Jordan was very typically quite silent - the whole thing made absolutely no sense whatsoever, but I think that was part of the charm of it really. The rest, so they say, is history.

~OR~

Okay, well. We met because I worked at the pool, and so did she. And I was a creep, trying to get Ali's number strategically. So, in a CLEVER way, to start up a conversation on social media, I went into the office and thought "I will order Tim's for everybody but I will make Ali my primary source of contact." And it worked. Anyway, I couldn't even bring her anything the next day cause she was sick but we spent all night talking. She talked about It and how it was scary, so I cooked up a first date idea. That's when we first started talking.

Tidbits

Who made the first move? How?

He made the first move, but I assure you I would've eventually if he hadn't.

Who's going to take out the trash?

Usually him, since he mostly fills it, and out of the two of us he is the most tidy.

What was your most memorable date?

We went to Rats Nest Cave in Canmore and went cave diving - I didn't know he is a little bit claustrophobic but it turned out to be really fun. Super creepy, it felt like we were in the middle of a horror movie, but so much fun.

What's your favorite activity together?

We take our fur children for walks with coffee at least once a week and like to spend time in the mountains when we can. We love camping, hitting the gym together, trying new restaurants and recipes at home, and Jordan's even turned me into a bit of a golfer..

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

Greece!

What's the best meal you have eaten together?

Oh my god. Gluten free macaroni and cheese from Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. Life. Changing.

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

We did a little road trip up to Jasper a few years ago and it was the worst blizzard we've ever seen. The next day was absolutely beautiful, we can't wait to go back.

We’re on the same page about

Honestly most things. Except how to do the dishes, someone is most particular about that.

The most spontaneous thing we’ve done

Fostered (and failed) our three legged cat (my fault) and did it again with our neurologic kitten (not MY fault) - we hadn't planned on getting another fur child.

The dorkiest thing about us is

Jordan loves his videogames, and I love Harry Potter.
