Ridesharing services such as Uber and Lyft are widely used throughout Chicago. Feel free to use these if you do not want to rent a car or use public transportation.

Public transportation via the CTA is an easy way to get around the city. We use both the train system (the "El," for "elevated train") and bus system regularly, and all train lines are accessible from downtown Chicago. We recommend downloading either the Ventra app or CityMapper if you plan on using public transportation since they have public transit tracking information. All CTA systems also take tap pay, so you don't need to purchase a card unless you plan on getting a day pass.
