Travel

Note

Beware tourism season - book sooner rather than later!

June is one of the busiest months for tourism in Ithaca so it's a good idea to make your arrangements as soon as possible for the best rates and availability. The Finger Lakes Region is full of fun vacation stays and we recommend checking out AirBnB and/or Visit Ithaca.

Plane

Ithaca Tompkins International Airport, Elmira Corning Regional Airport, or Syracuse Hancock International Airport

Ithaca Tompkins International Airport is the closest airport, but not always the cheapest (it's very small). Elmira Corning Regional Airport is also a small airport about an hour away from Ithaca and sometimes has cheaper options than Ithaca Airport. Syracuse Hancock International Airport is also about an hour away but has more flight options.

Story

Just a small town girl,
Looking for a farm to love,
She took a cross-country flight going to Okanogan.

Just a city boy,
Born and raised in South Seattle,
He took to midnight Tinder, thinking "this isn't going anywhere."

A new arrival in a smoky town,
the smell of garlic and mountain ash.
'Cause of her smile, he swiped right,
hoping to see it go on and on and on and on.

Strangers, matchin',
From across 2nd Avenue.
Their emojis,
Smilin' in the night.
Veggie pizza, Cebuano,
Bowlin' just to know each other,
Whoopin' into the smoky night.

Fallin' hard accidentally,
7 weeks all it was meant to be.
Doin' anything to spend more time,
Just one more night.
So it ends,
But he moves!
Some things you just can't lose!
So our story doesn't end,
It grows on and on and on and on.

Tidbits

What's your favorite activity together?

Tickle torture.

What's the best meal you have eaten together?

2nd anniversary dinner at DC's Little Pearl - one of our first dinners out months after Covid-19 hit. We stan for that chess pie.

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

Melissa and Kimsey's wedding in Mexico. We danced all night, despite Ryan failing to see a doctor about his severely broken foot, and ended the night in the pool with Melissa's grandma. Also the time John brought the fam gummies from TN.

We’re on the same page about

Not this wedding questionnaire.

A life goal of ours

To create a puppy wonderland and board 30+ pups, nurture a goat, sheep, and alpaca herd, and have a porch with two rocking chairs.

The most spontaneous thing we’ve done

Abandoning city life (and Ryan's job) to move to a tiny home community in Ithaca!

We take pride in

Nutmeg's adorableness.

What social cause is important to you?

Saving the tiger-striped mosquito swallow.

Registry

Your presence is enough of a present to us! But for those of you who are stubborn, we've included a honeymoon fund and a couple charities near and dear to our hosts' hearts.

Q & A

We love curious minds!

When is the RSVP deadline?

If you don't respond by April 18, bring a sandwich and a chair.

What about the ceremony?

The ceremony will be for immediate family only, but we can't wait to celebrate at the reception with you shortly after saying, "We do!"

Where is the reception going to be held?

Our wonderful Aunts Joy and Donna are graciously sharing their beautiful home* for our reception. Dancing and dinner will be under a tent on the grass, and there will be other opportunities for fun scattered around (e.g. lawn games, campfire, and a pond for those brave/drunk enough).

*We ask that guests refrain from entering the house.

How should I get to the reception?

For the sake of the limited parking (and your ability to fully enjoy the party!), we suggest taking the shuttle we will provide. You are also welcome to make the 25 minute drive from downtown Ithaca to Donna and Joy's home at 1155 Vankirk Rd in Newfield.

Where should I park?

If you chose to drive to the reception, please follow the signs to park on the verge of Jackson Hollow Road (the gravel road just off Vankirk Rd, north of the property, above the pond). Please do NOT park in the driveway in front of the house.

What should I wear?

Whatever makes you feel your best!

Seriously, we mean it, wear whatever you want! We just want our guests to feel as comfortable as possible while celebrating with us.

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

Bare feet are accepted and encouraged (we will be!), but for those opting for footwear, we recommend leaving the stilettos at home since the reception will be entirely on grass.

What will the weather be like?

Weather averages in Ithaca in mid-June are highs of 78 and lows of 58, with about 30% chance of rain, but some years recently it's been as hot as high 80's. So plan on a pleasant, cool-ish evening for the reception, but be prepared for whatever!

How will food and drinks be served?

Dinner will be served buffet style at the beginning of the reception. Drinks, including local beer and wine, juice, and soda, will be self-service from coolers and kiddie pools. There might even be a few bottles of beer to fish out of the creek for those looking for extra adventure.

What if I have a dietary restriction?

Dinner will include several vegetarian options (more than half the menu!), a few gluten-free taco choices, and vegan/dairy-free tofu wings. Unfortunately, our menu doesn't accommodate other dietary restrictions so please feel free to bring other food, if desired.

Will last names be changing after the wedding?

Ryan is becoming an official Lundsted-er!

I have a question not answered here; how do I contact you?

Please feel free to shoot an email to: ryan.andrew.smith.14@gmail.com, and we'll be happy to answer any additional questions.
