Our Story

Our story began at the YMCA, where Harrison was just a guy breaking pool rules, and Kara was the lifeguard on duty. Harrison thought it was funny to dive into shallow water, making Kara whistle at him—not once, but twice! Little did she know, he actually worked there too. The very next day, we ran into each other again when Kara was assigned to lifeguard an infant swim class, and surprise—Harrison was the instructor! That’s when things clicked, and Kara freaked out a little, giving him a lecture on baby swim safety (as if she knew better, being the new employee!). But instead of getting annoyed, Harrison just laughed it off with that signature patience of his.

That summer, we became best friends. We opened and closed the pool together, did trainings, and spent all our free time together. Harrison watched Kara date other guys, always there to offer the best advice. Little did she know, he had feelings for her the whole time, but she was convinced he was way too good for her. Harrison, meanwhile, thought Kara was out of his league, so neither of us made a move. Until one day, Kara, for the first time in her life, decided to take a chance and asked Harrison to prom—a special one her mom and dad were throwing during the COVID year.

Harrison awkwardly said yes (Kara wasn’t even sure if he wanted to go!). Before prom, he suggested we hang out outside of work, and we went to Dairy Queen for ice cream. It was during that date that everything changed. We both knew—deep down—that God had brought us together. We talked about life, love, and what we wanted in a Godly partner. Harrison even asked if he met any of the qualities in 1 Corinthians 13. Kara’s answer? Yes, of course!

From that moment on, it didn’t take long for us to fall in love. Harrison said “I love you” just two weeks after we started officially dating, and it felt right. We were always best friends, and now we were finally something more. After dating for three years, on January 20, 2023, Harrison proposed in a moment that was so perfectly us—private, unexpected, and full of love. He had saved every penny for the ring and even designed it with Kara’s family.

Now, after years of dreaming about our future, we’re getting married on June 21, 2025, and we couldn’t be more excited. Our journey has been filled with laughter, faith, and so many memories, and we can’t wait to start this next chapter together. Here's to forever! We are so excited to bring you along for the beginning of our journey!
