Our Love Story
Katharine and Chris were born in March 1990, spent their teenage years in the suburbs of Chicago, graduated from the University of Michigan, and then moved back to Chicago. Their parallel paths would first cross in 2013.
On Groundhog’s Day, Katharine and Chris joined members of the U of M Club of Chicago to watch a Michigan basketball game. Chris spotted Katharine from across the room and navigated through the crowd to talk to her. In an effort to keep Chris interested, Katharine pretended to care about basketball… and it worked! As she was heading out the door after the game, Chris chased after her to ask for her number.
After a month, they finally found time to meet up. Katharine and Chris grabbed lunch, ice skated at Millennium Park, and watched part of whatever movie happened to be on Comedy Central. On April Fool’s Day, they cooked dinner together. After dinner, Chris asked Katharine to be his girlfriend. She trusted he wasn’t pulling an April Fool’s prank and said, “Yes!”
