Story

Kim and Jay could not have grown up further apart, but fate (or maybe luck) doesn’t care about distance!

When she finished her degree in Australia, one of the few universities where Kim could continue her obsession with all things death was in Dundee, but even when the astronomical fees made this impossible, she still felt a call to Scotland, and in true chilled Aussie fashion, packed a bag and hopped on a plane, not knowing what she would do or who she would meet.

Days later she had landed a job in one of the worst restaurants in Edinburgh (where Jay was already suffering)... surely this terrible job was too bad to be true!? Then came the work night out when Jay made his move, and they found themselves alone at 5am in the Cowgate of Edinburgh, sharing a bottle of red, holding hands and talking as if they’d always been friends. The next day at work was brutal - the customers kept coming, the hangover was not subsiding, and both wondered what the other was thinking.

But Kim knew this tall blue eyed Scot was a keeper, when come the end of her next shift, he showed up and said, “I’m picking you up and taking you out for dinner”.

After a few dates, Kim and Jay were on a weekend away, walking the streets of London, talking until the early hours of the morning. At which time, with the underground closed and no idea of how to get home, panic set in for Jay, but Kim, again in true chilled Aussie fashion simply said, “she’ll be right!” At that moment on Waterloo Bridge, Jay fell in love and dreamed of spending the rest of his life with her.

The following years took them all over the world, eventually settling in Canberra, pursuing their goals and building a life together. Then, on a visit back to the UK, at that very same spot on Waterloo Bridge where first Jay had dreamed, on one knee he made the dream a reality.

Then came Covid, and the wedding was put on hold, again and again, until they couldn't wait any longer. They said their vows in the beautiful setting of Airlie Beach, Queensland, with just their parents watching on, and while it wasn't what they had originally planned, it was a very special moment.

Now comes the time to truly celebrate their union and this whole story!

Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q & A first!

When is the RSVP deadline?

January 31st, 2023

Can I bring a date?

Please check your invite for a plus one.

What will the weather be like?

It will be Autumn in Karridale, around 20 degrees in the day time, but there can be a bit of a sea breeze, so bring a jacket for the evening as it may get a little cool!

Where should I park?

We are organising bus transportation for the evening, but if you wish to drive there will be plenty of parking on the farm.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Outdoors, but we have a giant tipi for shelter!!

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

Calling all ladies! Do not wear stiletto heels. I repeat, do not wear stiletto heels. There are a bunch of grassy areas that you might have to walk in so wear chunky heels or sandals. Can't have any of you ruining nice shoes or breaking any ankles.

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Yes! We would love for you to take as many photos and videos as you can during the celebrations to remember the day and to share with us, but please don't post them on social media.
