Story

The first time Ty and I met, I was his server at the University of Calgary bar. He stopped in for a drink between classes, and I remember very clearly seeing him walk in. I even texted my Maid of Honour, Kara, and told her a cute guy was sitting at one of my tables. Going in to greet him I was a bit nervous, but fortunately he was very easy to talk to and we quickly learned that both of us had just returned from Australia within the last month which sparked even more conversation. If you ask Ty, he would say he made a move right there, but in reality it was not until later that night when we matched on good ol' Tinder that he actually asked me out. We immediately began to talk every single day and a week later we met for Coffee and finally had our official first day. I remember almost cancelling trying to go on a date altogether because it was hard to initially coordinate, but he convinced me otherwise and we really haven't looked back since.

Since that date, we have not stopped learning and growing as a couple together. We have both finished new degrees, started new careers, fostered and adopted dogs, and have bought and built a home together. We cannot wait to take the next step as husband and wife, and even though it already know we will spend our lives with each other, we cannot wait to make it official.

Tidbits

What was your most memorable date?

Recently, Ty surprised me by setting up a screen and projector outside and we watched movies while having a fire outside. He bought all my favourite things for snacks: fuzzy peaches, dark chocolate, and popcorn.

What's your favorite activity together?

Summer: Beers and bike rides
Winter: Wine and board games

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

Our goal is to go on an adventure - we would love to go to southeast Asia or Europe and spend a few weeks exploring new countries and experiencing new things together. Also, we will make sure we spend a good amount of time on a beach just lazing in the sun.

A social cause we care about

We LOVE dogs. Once we moved in with each other and had the space we began to foster dogs through AARCs and we are huge advocates for rescuing dogs.
