Story

The first time we met was more or less a coincidence. Evan, Tara, and I (Nika) were headed to a Martin Sexton concert in Boston and had an extra ticket, and as a fan Colin quickly snatched up the spare. We had instant chemistry, but were both in serious relationships so we went our separate ways. Two months later, we both became single, and Colin was on his way to Puerto Rico to hang out with Evan at his family's house. Never one to pass up on a great opportunity, Colin started lobbying Tara to 'be a great big sister' and fly me down for the weekend. Colin was apparently persuasive, as a few days later we met again at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport. We spent that week in Puerto Rico, and the rest was history!

Tidbits

What was your most memorable date?

Within the first month we decided to visit Adam (Colin's brother) in the Cayman Islands and Colin tacked a trip to Jamaica on to the end of this, so we soon found ourselves flying in a private charter plane across the blue mountains to Port Antonio. At a tiny resort in the Jamaican jungle, we spent all of our time talking and getting to know each other

What's your favorite activity together?

We love to play tennis and do yoga together (I taught Colin everything he knows). We also enjoy word and strategy board games. Watch out, Colin is fiercely competitive

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

We haven't decided yet, but our eyes are set on backpacking through Southeast Asia. Colin said something about a motorcycle and Vietnam but I'm not listening...

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

We're blessed to have so many great adventures together, but our South America travels were perhaps the most memorable. We traveled all over, heading down the Chilean coast before flying to Punta del Este and then celebrating New Years in Buenos Aires dancing at a local street party until 8 in the morning. The highlight: scaling Volcan Villarica, a snowcapped active volcano, and then sledding down the backside in a slightly terrifying fashion

How did you propose?

I knew that a ring was being made, Colin had enlisted me to help with the design, but I was 100% sure during our trip to Telluride, Colorado that Colin had not picked it up. I was wrong. Colin asked for us to take a photo for his mom, so we dressed up and went to Main Street to snap a picture with Bridal Veil Falls in the background. Colin handed me a bouquet of wildflowers, and while his cousin Ian shot photos, Colin began a very sweet speech. I couldn't quite piece it all together until Colin dropped to a knee and popped the question! I said yes, we kissed, and celebrations erupted from the bluegrass festival attendees in town!

Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our FAQ first!

What's up with charging us for coming to your wedding?

We know this is a bit unusual, but we promise this isn't a scam! The 'wedding ticket' gets you lodging, food, and access to the grounds for the weekend. For the majority of our guests, if you consider the cash saved from having a wedding in the NY area and having all meals, drinks, and lodging covered, we think this is a great value. For those guests who are strapped for cash, your attendance is gift enough for us. For those guests REALLY strapped for cash, give us a shout and we'll work something out.

When is the RSVP deadline?

Given the complexity of the event we are asking all RSVPs to come by May 15, 2017

Can I bring a date?

Did your invite say +1? :) If you have a significant other that we seem to have missed, shoot us a note, this weekend is about love after all!

Are kids welcome?

Unless you are in the family or wedding party, we suggest leaving your adorable rugrats at home so that you can cut loose. If that's not a possibility, let us know and we can find a way to accomodate.

What time should I arrive?

Arrive as early as you can on Saturday. The sun will be out, the grill will be hot, and the pool will be luke.

Whom should I call with questions?

Your mom.
Just kidding! Call Nika: (508) 308-6130

What should I wear?

In the words of Joe Maddon, "If you think it looks hot, wear it." The wedding/reception itself will be black tie (as any summer camp wedding should be), the evening before will be cocktail attire, and all daytime events are 'Boca casual'.

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

There will be a professional photographer onsite during the ceremony, so we would ask that everyone chill out and enjoy the moment. For the rest of the time, take all the photos you wish and tag them with #labordayloving so we can share in all the great memories!

Is there a gifts registry?

We do have one at Zola (), but your presence is gift enough for us!

Are there any colors that guests should avoid wearing?

Nope. Do what feels good. Stay beautiful.

How can I help the couple have the best time during their wedding day?

Bring all the love, joy, and excitement you can!

What do I need to bring with me to the camp?

Towels and bedding (pillows, blankets, sheets) will be provided. Please bring your own toiletries. Remember to bring a swimsuit for the pool and lake, and pack appropriate clothes based on the itinerary. The camp location is fairly remote, so if there's anything you want with you for the weekend (e.g., water bottles, your personal favorite late-night snacks, etc.), please pick up those items in advance!

What will accommodations be like?

In the spirit of this being a camp for kids from NYC, the cabins are extremely upscale. In the spirit of sleepaway camp, there will be 6 people to a cabin (which comfortably can sleep 12). Each cabin comes with private restrooms/showers, plenty of space, and pretty nice beds. The experience is definitely far from "roughing it" and provides a great way to embrace your inner child for the weekend!
