Story

We are a little fuzzy on the details, but sometime around 2007, deep in the hallways of Cherry Creek High School (or maybe it was on the bus...or maybe in the quad?), Lauren and I met and got to know each other thanks to our overlapping friend groups. It was this same overlap (with help from social media) that allowed us to stay in touch and see each other a couple times a year when we were back in Colorado.

Fast forward 14 years. I had just finished grad school and was spending time at home in Denver before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area. Lauren was also in Denver, enjoying her company's fully-remote work policy during Covid. We got together for a very high school-like first date...playing Pandemic (the board game) and watching Avatar: The Last Airbender in my parents' basement.

A few months later, Lauren decided her next remote-working location would be San Francisco -- posting up in various Airbnbs over the course of a few months (with Lenny in tow). She and I spent time together exploring the city's food, parks, and pickleball courts, and we started formally dating by the end of the year.

The time between then and now was filled with traveling to Formula 1 races, cuddling with our cats, skiing with friends, buying a house, adopting a dog, and so much more. We can't wait for what's still to come!

Tidbits

How did you first meet?

We met either freshman or sophomore year of high school through our mutual friend Andrew -- during Taylor's puka shell necklace phase and Lauren's braces era

What was your most memorable date?

Lauren planned a surprise date day in downtown SF, complete with sightseeing, sunset pickleball, and dumplings

What's the best meal you have eaten together?

Too many amazing restaurants in the Bay Area to name, but some highlights include: Zareen's, Oren's Hummus, and Palette Tea House. We've also loved langos in Budapest, deli sandwiches in Aachen, waffles in Leige, pasta/pizza in Bologna, and international McDonald's.

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

Our Hungarian field trip with our cute & quirky friends (Barbi & Mark)

We’re on the same page about

Pets always outnumbering humans in the household

A life goal of ours

Ski the world

How did you propose?

Lauren and I have shared some of our favorite days together on the mountain, so a ski trip was the obvious choice for a proposal. I knew of a website that allows you to customize ski slope signs, and I ordered 3: a double black diamond that said "Lauren," a blue that read "Will You," and a terrain park sign that asked "Marry Me?"

Lauren and I were skiing that day with a good friend, Carl, who helped mislead Lauren while Mark was laboriously searching the mountain for a place to set up the signs. Once the signs were set, Lauren, Carl, and I skied over, under the guise of, "meeting up with some friends from grad school."

We arrived at the sign and my nervous excitement made me forget to take my ski off before kneeling (a very bad idea). Thankfully, Lauren said yes, my knee was undamaged, and we all celebrated with a mini bottle of champagne.

Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q & A first!

What will the weather be like?

Welcome to Colorado, all of you out-of-towners! The weather here can be funny. During the day, the weather in Colorado Springs should be between 55-65 degrees, but will get chilly at night. Please bring some warm layers for the evening.

Are kids welcome?

As much as we love your little ones, we will not be including them in the ceremony or reception. However, we recognize that some of you will be traveling with your kids, so please know they are welcome at the Friday welcome party and Sunday brunch!

Where should I park?

There is valet and self-parking available at Garden of the Gods Resort & Club.

What should I wear?

Our wedding theme is “where the earth meets the sky.” Floral and celestial attire is encouraged throughout the weekend!

The wedding on Saturday is mountain formal. Wondering what that means? Lauren made an inspo Pinterest board to help capture the vibe!

Please come in athletic clothes for our Welcome Pickle Party; pickleball gear (paddles, balls) will be provided for those interested in playing.

The sendoff breakfast/hike on Sunday is casual.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors. Our reception will be indoors (with access to a balcony).

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

The ceremony is on a grassy area, so we recommend chunky/block heels.

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Please refrain from taking photos during the ceremony. You are welcome to take as many photos as you'd like AFTER the ceremony!
