What will the weather be like?

Yes. Noting that the venue is outside so the ceremony is on grass. Cocktail hour is on grass/ flat stone/ indoors surface.

What should I wear?

Please see our Schedule for the dress code.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Our wedding ceremony is outdoors. Our cocktail hour and reception are indoor/outdoor but mostly outside.

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

Venue suggest you do not wear stiletto heels. There are a bunch of grassy areas that you might have to walk in so wear chunky heels or sandals. Can't have any of you ruining nice shoes or breaking any ankles.

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Yes! We would love for you to take photos and share them on our app Joy or with us directly.
However, please refrain from taking photos during the ceremony.

Story

Near the beginning of their careers, Phakiso and LaVarro worked freelance in television. For different networks and production companies. in 2008ish they both landed a BET. They were working on a pilot based on the online gossip site Media Takeout. Their assignment was to wait outside a courthouse for 50 cents Baby Mama to come out and get a statement. LaVarro was the cameraman and Phakiso was the producer. While waiting they had an interesting but not memorable conversation. and that is where it ended. They left that day without even exchanging contact information.

Years later they met on a job again and again
and the conversations became more interesting and memorable. and eventually, Phakiso could no longer resist the raw sexual magnetism and aura of LaVarro. If you can't tell by now Phakiso wrote this. (Insert Kiki giving a side eye lol).

So a few dates yada yada yada and here we are about to get married. In case you were wondering their first job together was a success! Well it actually never made air, but it's a fun one to remember.

Tidbits

How did you first meet?

See Our Story!

Who made the first move? How?

I have to give this one to LaVarro. We'd known each other for a while and were friends. I think at some point he liked me. I didn't give off any vibes. Then I started noticing myself catching feelings, but it was new so I didn't say much, just kind of witnessing. Then one night we were out to eat in Manhattan and mid-dinner from across the table LaVarro looked at me, told me he had a question, but I had to answer yes or no (something like that) and that I couldn't ask any other questions... cause a sista always got follow up lol. I said Ok.

Then he asked, "Do you feel it too"? . I said "I do".
That boy Goodt.

YES THAT BOY GREAT
-LaVarro

Who's going to take out the trash?

Chile.

LOL whoever gets to it first. I'll admit sometimes it leans more towards Phakiso.

What was your most memorable date?

After 10 years of dating that's a hard one. But one that sticks out for me is Lavarro surprising me with a hot air balloon ride for my birthday. I was hella nervous, but when we went up it was such a high. And had some really nice vibes together when back on the ground.

What's your favorite activity together?

Learning something new, leading, building things, watching shark tank and other dope content/movies together, lounging, experiencing nature, cracking up with big laughs.

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

Cross country road trip + Hawaii baby. Atleast as of now.

The dorkiest thing about us is

I pretend that Lavarro is losing breath and rush to him and do mouth to mouth CPR at random times. I don't know how or why this started but it tickles the heck out of me and for some reason he cracks up too.

We are regulars at

The movies.
