Getting In

We recommend flying into Seattle–Tacoma International Airport!

Note

Roche Harbor, Friday Harbor, Anacortes, Lake Union, Pier 69... so many options!

Roche Harbor is pretty remote but don't panic -- that just means there are SO MANY ways to get there!
San Juan Island has two main harbors - Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor. The ferries will dock at Friday Harbor and it is a 20 minute drive/shuttle/Uber through the forest and hills on San Juan Island to get to Roche Harbor. If you chose the more adventurous route and fly there via float plane, you can fly into either Friday or Roche Harbor. It's a choose-your-own-adventure kind of trip!

Ferry

Anacortes to San Juan Island

Reservations are highly recommended! If you rent a car, Washington State Department of Transportation provides a vehicle/passenger ferry from Anacortes to Friday Harbor. There are approximately 6-9 ferries per day that make the voyage from Anacortes to Friday Harbor. Friday Harbor is the ferry harbor on San Juan Island and is a 20 minute drive through forests and hills to Roche Harbor.

Ferry

Downtown Seattle to San Juan Island

***It is TBD if the Clipper Ferry will operate in 2023. Check back later for more information***

If you do not want to rent a car or you want to enjoy a longer ferry ride through the Puget Sound up to San Juan Island, the Clipper Ferry is for you! Departing from Pier 69 on the Seattle Waterfront, the Clipper Ferry is a 3hr 45min sight seeing experience. After a 25 minute Uber/Lyft ride from SeaTac, you can be enjoying local spirits and snacks aboard this ferry with the next stop being Friday Harbor. Note - this is a passenger only ferry. No vehicles are allowed!

Plane

Float Plane!

For the more adventurous types, you can take a float plane from downtown Seattle's South Lake Union directly to the dock at Roche Harbor Resort. On a clear day, this 60 minute flight will provide a sight-seeing tour of Seattle and the Puget Sound up to the the San Juan Islands. The Olympic Mountains and the Cascade Mountains will be visible along with the volcanoes in each range. You may even get lucky and see some orcas! The float plane will drop you at the Roche Harbor Marina, just steps away from your accommodation.

Story

Once upon a time, in the bustling city of Dallas, Texas, a young woman named Kelsey was enjoying a drink at her favorite outdoor patio. As she was talking with her friend, she noticed a handsome man walking in named Leighton. He was a newcomer to the city, having just relocated for flight training.

They struck up a conversation, finding common ground in their love of travel and adventure. They talked for hours, completely unaware of the time flying by. By the end of their conversation, they exchanged numbers. After Leighton made an attempt to impress Kelsey with his new puppy Breck, they made plans to go on their first date – a Texas Rangers baseball game.

The next few weeks were filled with laughter, excitement, and the thrill of getting to know each other. But as Leighton’s job took him to Germany, they found themselves in a long-distance relationship for three years. It was a tough road, but their love only grew stronger with each passing day.

Three years later, Leighton and Kelsey made the move to California. They settled into their new home in Walnut Creek, enjoying their shared passions such as boating during the summer and skiing in the winter. They traveled to new and exciting destinations and eventually bought a home in Washington state, always exploring the world hand in hand.

Looking back, they realized that their chance encounter at the patio in Dallas was the beginning of a beautiful journey filled with love, adventure, and memories to last a lifetime. They were grateful to have found each other and couldn't imagine life without the other by their side.

The dorkiest thing about us is

Leighton and Kelsey have two-person dance parties in their living room that go on for way too long into the night!
