Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q & A first!

When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP directly on this website no later than July 15, 2022.

Can I bring a date?

Please check your invite for your +1! When you RSVP on the website, a Guest #2 will pop up for you to fill in a name if you have a +1.

Will there be any activities happening that I need to know about?

Please RSVP here on the wedding website to view your customized schedule of events. In other words, if you see it on the website after your RSVP, you're invited!

Are kids welcome?

As much as we love your little ones, we will not be including them in the ceremony or reception. However, we recognize that some of you will be traveling with your kids, so please reach out the bride and groom directly if you haven't already chatted.

Are you requiring all guests who are able to be vaccinated?

Yes. For the health and safety of our family and friends who are immunocompromised or under the eligible age to be vaccinated, we ask that you only attend if you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. No testing required. Thank you for your understanding!

What will the weather be like?

Welcome to Oregon, all of you out-of-towners! The weather here can be funny. During the day, the weather in Hood River should be beautiful, averaging 75-80 degrees, but will get chilly & breezy at night. Please bring some warm layers for the evening.

Where should I park?

There will be signs pointing to parking sections at The Orchard. Please only park in designated spaces.

Are the ceremony and reception locations wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the Orchard is fully wheel chair accessible.

What should I wear?

We want you to look your best and feel comfortable! We don't want anyone stressing out about what to wear! If you need some guidance, you can see our Dress Code in the schedule section (however, this is only a suggestion).

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Our wedding ceremony is outdoors and the reception will be under a large covering - see photos of our venue here: www.instagram.com/theorchard.hr/

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

Do not wear stiletto/skinny tiny heels. I repeat, do not wear stiletto heels. There are a bunch of grassy/dirt areas that you will have to walk in so wear chunky heels or sandals. Can't have any of you ruining nice shoes or breaking any ankles.

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Yes! We would love for you to take photos and share them on our app Joy. However, please refrain from taking photos during the ceremony.

Will last names be changing after the wedding?

Yes! After the wedding we will be the Kneier (pronounced: "Ny-er") Family.

Whom should I call with questions?

Please call Lesley with any question at (415) 314-9411. On the big day, please call her mother Janet.

Is there transportation being provided between reception and hotels?

Yes! Please see the Transportation section of the website for the shuttle pick up times and locations.

How will food and drinks be served?

Dinner will be served family style - no need to worry about choosing an entree ahead of time. Vegan and vegetarian options will be in abundance.

Getting In

We recommend flying into Portland International Airport (PDX)! From PDX, the best way to get to Hood River is via rental car. Uber & Lyft are sparse (like, basically none) in Hood River so this will be your best bet to explore the Gorge during the celebration weekend.

Story

In early 2016, Mike and I were both working at Affirm, just a small SF startup. Everyone at Affirm was young, energetic and excited to be spending long days and nights at the office working and hanging out together. I had moved to San Francisco not long before and knew almost no one in the city - Affirm was my dream come true. Mike was working as an ML engineer and I had just joined as the new office manager - an unlikely pair. :) I'm so glad I decided to sit with the cute redhead at lunch (I didn't know anyone yet)! I probably caught his eye because I was trying to use a fork and knife to cut into the tamale (yes, husk on. *face palm*). We hit it off immediately and have been inseparable ever since. Mike's closest friends gave their stamp of approval after our first karaoke session at Yamasho! I've also learned how to properly eat tamales and am now not as embarrassing to Mike as a California-native.

A handful of years later, we've bought our first house, are puppy parents to Wally, and will be getting married in one of our favorite places on earth. Mike popped the question on the slopes of Mt. Hood in December 2020 with my dream ring. All in all, we feel blessed and lucky to say that 2020 was a great year for us.

We can't wait to celebrate at the Orchard this coming fall and welcome our friends and family to our new home in Oregon.

Tidbits

How did you first meet?

See Our Story!

Who made the first move? How?

He made the first move! Mike invited me out that weekend while we were chatting at a company event on Treasure Island (yes, I planned it!). We met Southern Pacific Brewing in the Mission - it was just around the corner from my new apartment.

Who's going to take out the trash?

Mike! This is one of his only chores :)

What's your favorite activity together?

We love to paddle board on the river, explore Portland neighborhoods, spend time landscaping, and doing anything fun with Wally.

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

We're thinking about taking a minimoon to Banff or northern Washington but then planning a big trip to Thailand in the near future!

What's the best meal you have eaten together?

Anything that we ate together in Korea - that trip was magical!

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

Germany was our first international trip together. We flew over with our bikes and rolled around Munich exploring the neighborhoods together before Oktoberfest and our camping adventure.

We are regulars at

Dot's Cafe. Some BLTs and we're a happy pair.

We’re on the same page about

What's important to us. And that's spending time with the people we love most. (You all!)

A life goal of ours

Someday we would love to go skiing in Hokkaido, Japan!
