Gift list

We know it’s not tradition
It’s not the way it’s done
But instead of a wedding list
We’d like a bit of sun

We would appreciate your help
To send us on our way
A contribution to our honeymoon
In a land far far away

But most importantly, we request
You come to our wedding as our guest
To share with us our special day
And have some fun along the way

Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q & A first!

When is the RSVP deadline?

17th August 2021 to loudave54@icloud.com or just send one of us a text! Please let us know any dietary requirements too.

Can I bring a date?

Yes! The more the merrier, just give us a heads up.

Are kids welcome?

We’ll leave this up to you and how much parenting you feel like doing on the day. Unfortunately Burley Manor is an adult only hotel so it does not allow children to stay over night (please chat to us if this is going to cause problems! We can work something out with the hotel).

What time should I arrive?

Day guests: 12:00 - 12:15. The ceremony starts at 12:30.
Evening guests: 19:00 onwards.
The barn closes at 23:00 but for all the crazy cats that want to party on, the hotel bar is open 24/7!

Where should I park?

There’s lots of free parking at the front and around the back of the hotel.

How do I book a room at Burley Manor?

Give them a call directly (01425 403522) and tell them you’re with the wedding. Rooms are not reserved so make sure you book in advance. There are other hotels/B&Bs in Burley too if you’d prefer. Unfortunately Burley Manor is an “adult only” hotel which means generally they don’t allow children to stay overnight. If this is going to be an issue, speak with us and we can try to work something out with the hotel.
*IF YOU BOOED YOUR ROOM DIRECTLY WITH BURLEY MANOR FOR OUR ORIGINAL DATE THEN THEY HAVE AUTOMATICALLY TRANSFERRED THIS TO THE NEW DATE AND SHOULD UPDATE YOU DIRECTLY*

What should I wear?

Formal attire (or whatever makes you feel good really!)

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

If you’re planning on wearing shoes you can’t dance in, bring some spares that you can!

Will food be served?

Yes, a sit down meal in the afternoon (set menu of 3 courses, please let us know dietary requirements). There will be a buffet in the evening.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Indoors (we’ll be in the barns at the back of the hotel).

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Of course! But please wait for the professional photos to come out before sharing on social media. After that, share and tag away!

Will there be dancing?

Stupid question... YES!

Whom should I call with questions?

Louisa or Dave

Story

Louisa and Dave met each other in December 2015 when Louisa started working at ACRO and Dave would be sat on the adjacent pod of desks, being nothing but a distraction!
In November 2016 Louisa left ACRO to be a PSI, which is when Dave asked Louisa to play squash with him and go for coffee. Unbeknownst to Louisa, this was date number 1!
In December 2016, at the work Christmas party, both lovebirds got slightly drunk and much more confident. They had a sneaky kiss in the shared taxi home before going their separate ways. They met up the following day and the rest was history.
10 months later they were still going strong and Louisa moved in to Dave’s home where he lived with Topliss.
Just 1 month after that, 3 became 5. Louisa somehow persuaded Dave that it would be a great idea to rescue two kittens, Luna and Nala. To this day, the kittens are the true queens of the house.
In the following years Louisa endured a few Eastleigh football matches whilst Dave very patiently sat through many pole shows and competitions, supporting Louisa all the way. They had lots of trips together: London, Cornwall, Lanzarote, Turkey, Luxembourg, Italy, and they got a taste of the travelling bug.
So, in January 2019, Louisa and Dave left Topliss, Luna and Nala for 3 whole months to travel through South East Asia and Australia, the trip of a lifetime. It was hot, sweaty and stressful and the pair tested each others patience at times! But it was also very exciting. They saw some incredible sights and experienced lots of different cultures. They did things they’d never have done alone. In the end it brought them closer together.
And then on 23rd August 2019, Dave cooked a romantic meal for two at home (satay chicken, his specialty) and that evening got down on one knee and asked Louisa to marry him. She said yes!
They planned their big day and got excited for their wedding at Burley Manor on 28th October 2020...
And then Covid-19 happened.
Louisa and Dave made the decision to postpone their wedding to 26th October 2021, but wanted to keep their original date to get legally married. So on 28th October 2020, at Fareham Registry Office, and in the presence of just their parents, they became Mr and Mrs Trathan and exchanged rings. They then celebrated with 13 of their nearest and dearest friends and family at Lysses House Hotel. They then went for a Stay-cation honeymoon in Cornwall (well timed to fit in just before Lockdown 2.0!).
The legal bit may be done, but the wedding dress is still yet to be worn, the wedding cake is yet to be eaten, the speeches are yet to be heard and we have a lot of dancing to do and people to hug!
26th October 2021! THE BIG DAY!

Tidbits

How did you first meet?

See Our Story!

Who made the first move? How?

He made the first move when he asked her out on a date which she didn’t realise was a date.

What's your favorite activity together?

Cuddling kittens and going on adventures to see new places!

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

Road trip number 2: America ... if Covid allows

What's the best meal you have eaten together?

Khao Soi in Chiang Mai. Or that delicious Chinese restaurant in Adelaide.

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

January - April 2019 : Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia. We survived the Asian food and tuk tuks, the crocodiles, snakes and spiders. We saw so many temples, beaches and waterfalls, went on lots of walks and saw so many beautiful landscapes. We met loads of animals (quokkas were our favourite) and drove a campervan from Cairns to Melbourne. And so we caught the travelling bug.
