The Day After BBQ

1:00 PM

Travel

Plane

Flights

We recommend flying into Malaga airport - it’s a 30 minute drive from there to the wedding venue.

Don’t forget your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months to be able to travel to the EU now!

You need to complete this form before flying to Spain:

…And this one before returning to the UK: gov.uk/provide-journey-contact-details-before-travel-uk

Note

Latest on test requirements

We have tried to explain as clearly as possible - just let us know if you're still unclear on what's needed & we'll let you know!

If fully vaccinated you currently need to arrange 2 tests - which will cost you a total of around £70 per person - though prices seem to be dropping every week.

* No test is required to enter Spain, you just need proof of your vaccine status (can get on NHS app)

* Test is required within 3 days before returning to the UK. Can be antigen (which is cheaper) or a PCR. You can purchase this in the UK and bring it in your suitcase with you: If you’re only coming to Spain for 3 days (eg Mon to Thu) you can take this test in the UK before you depart & use this as proof of testing negative to get home from Spain.

* A PCR test is required on day 2 when you arrive home. If travelling with Ryanair or Easyjet they offer a discount which means you can get them from Randox for £43 (discount codes: FLYRYANAIR or EASYJET2021) (select 'Fully Vaccinated Day 2 PCR Test – Amber Arrivals' - if fully vaccinated)

Aside from testing, from 16th August, double vaccinated people & under 18s will no longer have to self isolate if they’ve been in contact with a positive case.

Note

Accommodation

The Cortijo sadly can’t accommodate everyone (we wish it could!) but the wedding planner has provided a list of recommended hotels, B&Bs, villas & apartments close by. There are loads of other options too, but this is a good starter for ten.

Our venue is close to Alhaurin El Grande, but there are a number of other towns within a 30 minute drive including Mijas, La Cala, Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Monda, Marbella, Puerto Banus and Malaga.

Let us know if you want any more recommendations.

Alhaurín Golf Hotel – this is our closest large hotel at less than 5 minutes away **We (Luke & Kira) have stayed here. It is very close to our wedding venue and has lovely grounds, but we thought the rooms were quite tired**

Casa Luz Del Sur – beautiful B&B with 5 guest bedrooms approx. 50e per person per night **This looks beautiful and has great reviews**

Finca Mil Estrellas – Luxury Bed & Breakfast, sleeping up to 18 guests. Wonderful hosts serving delicious local produce in beautiful surroundings. Just 5 minutes from the Cortijo with preferential rates of just 40e per person per night for our wedding guests – highly recommend

La Fuente Oase B&B – very close (walking distance) to the Cortijo this lovely B&B is perfect for extra family or Bridal party that you can’t fit into the Cortijo but will be visiting regularly.

Shanti Som – luxury boutique hotel and spa, just under 15 minutes from the Cortijo.

Casa 44 – Boutique B&B
Stylish boutique in Alhaurin Old Town – 10 mins from the Cortijo

El Oceano Beach Hotel – Our closest beach hotel, very stylish and great location, approx. 20 minutes from the Cortijo in La Cala de Mijas.

La Cala Resort and Spa – Large 4 star hotel with 107 rooms located 15 minutes from the Cortijo. **We (Luke & Kira) have stayed here & can recommend**

Monda Castle – this interesting hotel is located 10 minutes from the Cortijo in the pretty white village of Monda.

El Mirador – traditional Andalucian hotel with amazing views. Located in Alhaurin about 15 minutes from the Coritjo. Has 35 rooms.

Casa De Orange – nice B&B in Alhaurin with 6 bedrooms

Boho Club - luxurious boutique hotel in Puerto Banús. **We (Luke & Kira) have stayed here & can highly recommend. It is about a 40 minute drive to the wedding venue from here**

Iberostar Selection Marbella Coral Beach - beautiful beachfront resort 1km away from central Puerto Banús. Opposite The Boho Club, so again a 40 min drive to the wedding venue.

For those of you looking for a self-catering villa or apartment we would recommend Alhaurin Golf Resort. This is located directly next to Alhaurin Golf Hotel and there is a wide choice of villas and apartments to rent to suit different budgets. Please see the link below

Los Nebrales also offers very nice self-catering accommodation with a clubhouse onsite and is just 5 minutes from the Cortijo. **We (Luke & Kira) have driven by here and it looks like a nice little complex**

There’s also plenty of villas relatively local to the wedding venue on

Note

Taxis & Car Hire

The venue is in quite a remote location (once you turn off the MA-3303 it’s about 2km down into the valley along a stoney dirt track) therefore we recommend either hiring a car or using one of the taxi companies recommended by the wedding planners (as they’ll be familiar with the location). We have provided details below, but the wedding planners will be on hand to help with transfers to and from your accommodation also.

For minibus transfers the wedding planners recommend or

Local Taxis:
