Our Story

Sawraj has always said Maegan was just a few steps ahead of him. Sawraj grew up just around the corner from Maegan in Gilroy, CA and they attended the same Brownell Middle School and high school at Gilroy High. They knew of each other in youth group at South Valley Community Church, but as Maegan put it “Raj was the Indian kid who played ultimate frisbee.” Maegan returned home from college and started attending their church’s IF community. God put on Maegan’s heart to start a young adult’s group and one day Maegan approached Sawraj’s friend Adolfo and asked if he would co-lead the group with her. As fate were to have it Adolfo said no and turned to Sawraj, standing right next to him, and said, “What about you Sawraj?” That was the moment, Sawraj might claim, he caught up to Maegan as Maegan turned to Sawraj and said, “Yeah, Raj want to co-lead a group?” What unfolded from there was not love at first sight or a secret love interest, but simply two individuals feeling called to do God’s work.

Maegan and Sawaj met 8 weeks prior to starting the “Monday Night Bible Group” to plan and discuss what their goals were for the group. Maegan came with her sketchbook and hundreds of ideas and Sawraj came with his pen and notebook. Sawraj listened with excitement and also at times bewilderment to Maegan’s passion and visions. Maegan felt her ideas welcomed by Sawraj and encouraged by his ability to bounce off ideas and prioritize the main objectives to create a group as a team. Their teamwork is one of the most helpful skills they developed before their love for a bible group grew into their love for one another.
Six years later Sawraj and Maegan have gone through challenging obstacles beyond just planning a bible group, but their love for God has guided them into a relationship they want to commit to for life as husband and wife. They can’t wait to be silly, spontaneous, stubborn, passionate adventure buddies in this life together.

About Us

How did you first meet?

At our hometown church, South Valley Community Church!

Who made the first move? How?

Maegan invited Sawraj to their first unofficial date at Applebee's after their first bible group, but Sawraj took the unofficial date into debatable "official" date by inviting her, after dinner, to his favorite spot in Gilroy atop a hill that oversees the whole city of Gilroy. (Their engagement photo to your left is that same hill)

What was your most memorable date?

Going to San Francisco to explore the Disney and Dali exhibit at the Dinsey Museum. We rented bicycles and biked across San Francisco through the Golden State Park, enjoyed the art exhibit, got dinner at a Thai food place, and got foot massages. :)

What's your favorite activity together?

Going on drives with no destination in mind just to go out and explore! And picnics!

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

Not sure yet...maybe by the beach Monterey, CA!

What's the best meal you have eaten together?

BRAZILIAN STEAKHOUSE!!! - Churrascaria Plataforma in New York City!

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

Where hasn't...Costa Rica, Disneyland, New York, Vancouver, Solvang!

How did you propose?

Sawraj proposed to Maegan in New York city at her favorite art museum, The Cloisters. The Cloisters is a beautiful monastery and Sawraj got down on one knee and proposed in the garden. Maegan said, "Yes!" The moment felt so special to be proposed to in the garden where God brought man and woman together in the beginning. Gardens also have significance to Maegan as her Dad was a gardener and felt her Dad (who is in heaven) was there with her in the garden.
